Apple is expanding its smart home ecosystem with Apple Home Collection, a new lineup of connected accessories developed in collaboration with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. Announced today, October 13, 2026, the collection includes four security cameras, a smart deadbolt lock, two thermostats, and two types of temperature and humidity sensors designed to work with Apple Home.
The new accessories bring home security, door access, and climate control into Apple’s Home app, with one-tap iPhone setup and Siri voice controls. Apple says the products can operate individually or together as part of a connected home system, without requiring users to download a separate app or create another account.
The collection will begin arriving in December 2026, with select accessories scheduled for early 2027. US prices start at $39.95 for the standalone sensors and reach $399.95 for the LG Floodlight Cam.
Apple Home Collection brings cameras, smart locks, and thermostats together
Apple worked with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric to develop a coordinated selection of smart home accessories. LG supplies the four-camera lineup, the smart deadbolt, one thermostat, and a temperature sensor. Schneider Electric contributes its own smart thermostat and room sensor.
The collection builds on Apple’s existing Works with Apple Home and Matter ecosystems rather than replacing them. Apple is positioning these products as a more integrated selection for customers who want compatible accessories with a consistent setup and control experience.
Each product can be added to Apple Home with a single tap on an iPhone running the latest operating system software and supporting NFC pairing. Features vary by accessory, and some require a compatible home hub, such as Apple HomeView, HomePod, HomePod mini, or Apple TV 4K.
LG’s four smart cameras focus on home monitoring
LG’s camera lineup includes the Indoor Cam Plug-In, Outdoor Cam Plug-In, Floodlight Cam, and Video Doorbell Wired. Apple says all four cameras capture video at up to 2.5K resolution and can recognize people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles, and packages when used with a compatible home hub.
The LG Indoor Cam Plug-In takes a distinctive approach to privacy. Its motorized camera adjusts its viewing angle when users check in on their home and tilts back down to stop monitoring when the first household member returns. Users can also adjust the camera manually or through the Home app.

The LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In offers low-light color night vision, an adjustable viewing angle, and a self-installation design. The LG Floodlight Cam adds adaptive dual floodlights that activate when motion is detected, along with color night vision for monitoring darker outdoor areas.

The LG Video Doorbell Wired uses two cameras to capture separate views of visitors and packages. Its front-facing camera records at 2.5K resolution, while the downward-facing camera records at Full HD resolution. A built-in spotlight helps illuminate the entrance, and the doorbell can play its chime through compatible Apple Home hubs and speakers.

The camera lineup also includes built-in storage designed to keep recording when Wi-Fi connectivity drops, helping preserve detected moments during network outages.
iCloud+ is required for video history and AI features
Although the cameras integrate directly with Apple Home, recording history is not a completely subscription-free feature. Apple’s HomeKit Secure Video event history requires an eligible iCloud+ subscription.
Apple provides up to 10 days of event-video history, with camera limits determined by the iCloud+ plan: the 50GB plan supports one camera, the 200GB plan supports up to five cameras, and the 2TB plan supports an unlimited number of cameras.
Eligible plans also unlock Apple Intelligence features, including automatic video summaries and natural-language search for recorded footage. These features require a compatible Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, an eligible iCloud+ plan, and a compatible home hub. Supported camera counts for some Apple Intelligence features depend on the subscription tier.
This means buyers should account for the ongoing iCloud+ cost when evaluating the camera system, even though Apple says no separate camera subscription is required.
LG’s smart deadbolt adds hands-free unlocking
The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock combines Apple Home integration with Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology. When someone approaches the door with a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch carrying a home key, the lock can automatically unlock without requiring a tap.

Users can also unlock the door by tapping their iPhone or Apple Watch, entering a PIN, or using the hidden backup key slot.
The lock can detect whether the door has been opened, closed, or tampered with, and it can alert users if the door remains open even while locked. Guest access can be shared through the Home app, allowing residents to provide entry permissions to visitors, house sitters, or other trusted people.
The doorbell and lock can also work together. Users can see who is at the door, communicate with visitors, and unlock the door through the Home app or Siri.
The deadbolt supports Matter and Aliro and performs its core access functions locally, so those functions can continue even when the internet connection is unavailable.
LG and Schneider Electric introduce smart thermostats
Apple Home Collection includes two smart thermostats: the LG Smart Thermostat and the Schneider Home Smart Thermostat.

Both support Adaptive Temperature in the Home app. Using on-device intelligence from iPhone, the system can adjust heating and cooling according to whether residents are home, winding down for the night, or away. The aim is to reduce the need for manual temperature scheduling while maintaining indoor comfort.
The thermostats can also work with separate temperature and humidity sensors from LG and Schneider Electric. Apple’s HomeView, HomePod, and HomePod mini devices have built-in sensors that can also contribute room-condition readings.

For eligible customers in the contiguous United States, Clean Energy Guidance can shift heating and cooling to cleaner, lower-cost periods when the household has a compatible utility plan. The Home app also displays energy-use insights, including peak and off-peak electricity rates.
Both thermostats and the standalone sensors support Matter and are designed for do-it-yourself installation. Apple says they work with a broad range of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems, with on-device wire detection intended to simplify installation. Buyers should still check their existing HVAC system and wiring before purchasing.
Thread support helps keep the accessories connected
Every device in Apple Home Collection supports Thread, a low-power networking technology used by compatible smart home devices. Thread can help accessories maintain connectivity within the smart home network even when a Wi-Fi connection drops.
Apple says the products can also update their network credentials automatically when a household changes its Wi-Fi network, reducing the need to reconnect each device manually.
The accessories are designed to work together through Apple Home scenes and automation. For example, a morning routine could adjust the thermostat, change the indoor camera’s viewing angle, and start music on a HomePod. Another automation could lock the door and activate the cameras when the last household member leaves.
These capabilities make the collection more than a set of individual accessories: the products are designed to participate in a connected home workflow managed through Apple’s software.
Apple emphasizes privacy and offers professional installation
Privacy is a central part of Apple’s positioning for Home Collection. The company says Home app data and camera footage are end-to-end encrypted, preventing Apple, LG Electronics, and Schneider Electric from accessing the protected information.
Camera footage is processed locally on a customer’s compatible Apple Home hub or through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute infrastructure. For customers using iCloud+, recordings are stored in iCloud with encryption for up to 10 days.
Apple also offers professional installation through third-party provider ADT for an additional charge at Apple Retail locations in the United States. Customers who prefer to install the devices themselves can use the collection’s DIY-friendly setup, subject to each product’s installation requirements.

With Home Collection, Apple is working more directly with established manufacturers to deliver a coordinated smart home experience built around Apple Home. The lineup combines home monitoring, hands-free door access, and automated climate controls, while Matter and Thread support help connect the products to the wider smart home ecosystem. Buyers should pay particular attention to iCloud+ requirements for camera recording history and check regional availability before planning a purchase.
