Apple Inc.'s iPhone is a family of smartphones that run on Apple's iOS mobile operating system and are designed and marketed by the company. On January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs, then-CEO of Apple, launched the first-generation iPhone. Apple has released new iPhone models and iOS improvements every year since then. Up until the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, iPhones had a single button on the front panel that took the user back to the home screen. iPhone models have had a nearly bezel-less front screen design with the iPhone X, with app switching triggered by gesture recognition.
