Apple’s 2026 Mac mini and Mac Studio are now available to preorder, but the lineup is not equally available at every retailer. Apple and Best Buy have listings for both desktop lines, while Amazon currently has the new Mac mini models only.

Most configurations are scheduled to ship on September 22, 2026. The Mac mini starts at $899 with Apple’s M6 chip, while the Mac Studio starts at $2,499 with the M5 Max. The top-end M5 Ultra model begins at $5,499.

Where to preorder the Mac mini

Apple has the complete Mac mini lineup available to preorder through its online store and Apple Store app. Buyers can choose between the M6 model, starting at $899, and the M5 Pro version, which starts at $1,699. The new mini also adds 2.5Gb Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6 as part of the refresh.

Best Buy also has the new Mac mini available, including M6 and M5 Pro configurations. One listed M5 Pro configuration with 24GB of unified memory and 512GB of storage is priced at $1,699. Retailer pricing and delivery estimates can change, so check the exact configuration before placing an order.

Amazon currently has the Mac mini available for preorder, but its selection is more limited than Apple’s or Best Buy’s. The retailer has listings for several M6 / M5 Pro configurations, including models starting at $899, but the new Mac Studio is not currently available there.

Where to preorder the Mac Studio

Apple is the most complete destination for Mac Studio preorders. The M5 Max model starts at $2,499 with 36GB of unified memory and a 512GB SSD, while the M5 Ultra version starts at $5,499 with 96GB of memory and 1TB of storage.

Best Buy also lists the new Mac Studio models, including the M5 Ultra configuration priced at $5,499. Its product listing shows a September 22 release date, although pickup and delivery timing can vary by location.

Amazon does not currently list the new Mac Studio for preorder. If you want Apple’s high-end desktop, Apple or Best Buy are the retailers to check for now.

The M5 Ultra Mac Studio configuration with 512GB of unified memory will arrive later, with Apple pointing to late October availability and not yet publishing a price for that version.

Which retailer should you use?

Apple is the best option if you need a specific memory or storage configuration, want education pricing, or plan to use Apple financing or trade-in options. It also has the broadest selection of build-to-order models.

Best Buy is worth checking if you prefer store pickup, use My Best Buy benefits, or find a lower price on a particular configuration.

Amazon makes sense for shoppers who prefer its delivery and payment options, but its current selection is limited to the Mac mini. It is not currently an option for preordering the new Mac Studio.

The Mac mini is the more practical choice for most people. The M6 model should handle everyday productivity, web publishing, software development, photo organization, and general home-office work without trouble. The M5 Pro version is aimed at users who regularly edit video, run demanding software, use virtual machines, or need more sustained performance in a compact desktop.

The Mac Studio is designed for a narrower audience. Its M5 Max and M5 Ultra configurations make more sense for professional video work, 3D production, advanced audio projects, software development, and demanding local AI workloads. For everyday use, the Mac mini will likely offer better value, while the Mac Studio is aimed at buyers who can turn its extra performance into saved time or faster production.

For now, the preorder situation is straightforward: choose Apple or Best Buy for either the Mac mini or Mac Studio, and check Amazon only if you are shopping for the Mac mini.
