Twitter continues its efforts to revitalize its operations and strengthen advertiser relationships with the appointment of a seasoned executive from NBCUniversal. Joe Benarroch, the Executive Vice President of Communications, Global Advertising, and Partnerships at NBCUniversal, will join Twitter in a crucial business operations role. This strategic move follows the recent appointment of Linda Yaccarino as Twitter’s Chief Executive Officer, aimed at steering the company through a tumultuous period and improving its rapport with advertisers. With the hiring of Benarroch and Yaccarino’s leadership, Twitter hopes to usher in a new era, referred to by Benarroch as “Twitter 2.0.”

In an internal memo shared with his NBCUniversal colleagues on Sunday (June 4, 2023), Joe Benarroch expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to contribute his expertise to Twitter. As he steps into his new role, Benarroch will collaborate with the entire team to shape the platform’s future and drive its resurgence. The decision to hire Benarroch aligns with Twitter’s broader plan to rebuild and reinvigorate the company under the guidance of Linda Yaccarino, who possesses an impressive background in global advertising.

Since Elon Musk‘s acquisition of Twitter in October last year, the platform has faced a series of challenges, leading to significant changes within the organization. Musk’s takeover triggered a mass departure of employees, resulting in the loss or termination of around 75% of Twitter’s workforce. This exodus included key personnel who held valuable relationships with sales and partnership entities. Recognizing the need for stability and industry expertise, Twitter has taken a deliberate step to bring in Joe Benarroch, leveraging his extensive experience in communications, advertising, and partnerships to steer the company toward stability and growth.

Twitter’s ability to maintain healthy relationships with advertisers is paramount to its success. Benarroch’s role will play a vital part in rebuilding trust and fostering fruitful collaborations with advertising partners. With his background in global advertising at NBCUniversal, Benarroch brings valuable insights and industry connections that can help Twitter regain lost ground in the advertising domain. His appointment, alongside Linda Yaccarino’s leadership, symbolizes a renewed commitment to strengthening Twitter’s position as an attractive platform for advertisers seeking to engage with a broad user base.

Thank you @lindayacc! I am looking forward to partnering with the entire team and the industry to build @Twitter 2.0 together! Let’s make history! https://t.co/uHJfE08Z5L

Under the combined leadership of Linda Yaccarino and Joe Benarroch, Twitter is poised to enter a new chapter in its evolution. As the company embarks on what Benarroch refers to as “Twitter 2.0,” it is expected to place a renewed emphasis on operational efficiency, innovation, and strategic collaborations. Twitter aims to regain the trust of advertisers by delivering enhanced user experiences, robust advertising solutions, and a refined approach to content moderation and platform integrity.
