Foad Dabiri, the Engineering Director responsible for driving growth at Twitter, announced his resignation from the company on Wednesday. Dabiri, who took to Twitter to share the news, had been instrumental in the development of several crucial products aimed at enhancing user onboarding and engagement.

Throughout his tenure, Foad Dabiri played a pivotal role in shaping the user experience on Twitter. His expertise encompassed a range of products, including optimizing sign-up processes, refining suggested follow lists, and streamlining push notifications. By diligently focusing on these areas, Dabiri aimed to create an environment where new users seamlessly transitioned into active participants, while simultaneously ensuring existing users remained engaged and invested in the platform.

Foad Dabiri held a distinctive position within Twitter’s engineering landscape, serving as one of the few remaining engineering leaders responsible for overseeing managers of engineers. As per sources familiar with the matter, Dabiri reported directly to Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter. Alongside eight other engineering leaders within the product engineering division, Dabiri worked in close collaboration with Musk to drive innovation and spearhead key projects. This arrangement followed the dismissal of the previous head of the department by Musk earlier this year, resulting in a reshaping of the engineering leadership structure.

Dabiri’s decision to part ways with Twitter raises pertinent questions about the future trajectory of the company’s engineering endeavors. As an engineering director entrusted with driving growth, his departure may potentially impact ongoing initiatives and product development strategies. Given his notable contributions to enhancing user experience, Twitter must now grapple with filling the void left by Dabiri’s exit. The departure of such a high-level engineering leader also underscores the evolving nature of Twitter’s internal dynamics and the potential challenges faced by the company in retaining top talent.

With Dabiri’s resignation, Twitter’s product engineering division finds itself in a state of flux, necessitating a reevaluation of its leadership structure. Elon Musk’s direct involvement in overseeing the engineering leaders highlights his commitment to driving innovation and effecting substantial changes within Twitter. This reshuffling of responsibilities within the division presents an opportunity for the company to redefine its strategic priorities and align them with its long-term vision.
