The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is fast approaching, and as expected, the anticipation surrounding the next-generation flagship smartphones is reaching a fever pitch. Expected to include a base, Plus, and Ultra model, the lineup has already sparked considerable excitement with multiple design renders, color options, RAM and storage configurations, and even potential pricing details making their way online.

But it’s not just the aesthetics and features that have caught the attention of tech enthusiasts. Leaks and reports have been suggesting a few important changes in terms of performance and charging technology. And now, a new tip points to a launch date that many are eagerly awaiting. Here’s a breakdown of everything we know so far about the Samsung Galaxy S25 series and what we can expect when it finally hits the market.

Launch date

The countdown to the Galaxy S25 series unveiling is well underway, with new information hinting at a likely launch date. According to a post from tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd), the Galaxy S25 series may be revealed globally on January 22, 2025. Another source had previously suggested that Samsung could hold the Galaxy Unpacked event on this date in San Francisco, with some regions seeing the launch spill into January 23, 2025, due to time zone differences.

Given the pattern of previous Galaxy Unpacked events, it’s safe to assume that Samsung will be pulling out all the stops for this unveiling, and the event could become one of the most significant tech showcases of the new year.

Performance and design

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. This promises enhanced performance, including faster processing speeds and better efficiency, making it ideal for gaming, multitasking, and general use. The base Galaxy S25 model is likely to house a 3,881mAh rated battery with a typical capacity of 4,000mAh—matching the Galaxy S24 from the previous year.

As for the larger models, the Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra, these are expected to come with slightly larger battery sizes. Rumors suggest the S25+ and S25 Ultra will likely feature batteries around the same size as their predecessors, the S24+ and S24 Ultra, which come with 4,900mAh and 5,000mAh capacities respectively. Additionally, the Galaxy S25 series is expected to support 45W wired fast charging, keeping in line with the trend of quick power-ups.

Qi2 wireless charging?

One of the most intriguing rumors to surface recently is that the Galaxy S25 series could introduce Qi2 wireless charging. This is a newer wireless charging standard that could make charging faster and more efficient. Ice Universe, a well-known tech tipster, recently shared this information via an X post, indicating that the new phones will likely support the technology.

If this pans out, it could be a game-changer for the Samsung Galaxy S25 lineup, making wireless charging more competitive with wired options. The ability to charge your device more quickly without plugging it in has long been a highly anticipated feature, and with Qi2, it looks like Samsung is gearing up to offer the best of both worlds.

Pricing: what to expect?

As we move closer to launch, leaks regarding the pricing of the Galaxy S25 series have become clearer. The base Galaxy S25 is expected to start at $799 for the 12GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration. The Galaxy S25+ is expected to be priced at $999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model, while the Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumored to begin at $1,299 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage option.

While these prices are still speculative, they give us a sense of the positioning of each model in the broader market. The S25 Ultra, as always, will be the premium offering with top-tier features, while the S25 and S25+ will cater to users looking for slightly more affordable options without compromising on performance.

With the Samsung Galaxy S25 series expected to be unveiled in just over a month, the excitement around the upcoming smartphones is palpable. From powerful chipsets and larger battery capacities to the potential introduction of Qi2 wireless charging, it looks like Samsung is preparing to take the flagship experience to new heights in 2025.

We’re still waiting for more confirmation on several key details, but it’s clear that the Galaxy S25 series will likely continue Samsung’s trend of delivering high-performance, premium smartphones that push the boundaries of mobile technology. Whether you’re already a Samsung enthusiast or considering making the switch, the January launch promises to be a major milestone in the smartphone world. Stay tuned for further updates as we approach the big reveal!
