Apple’s biggest hardware event of the year is almost here, and if you want to watch the September 9 iPhone launch as it happens, there are several easy ways to tune in.

  • Apple September 9 event: what to expect

The event, which Apple is calling “Surprise and shine,” begins Wednesday, September 9, at 10 am Pacific Time. That works out to 1 pm Eastern Time, 6 pm in the UK, and 10:30 pm in India. Apple has confirmed that the event will be streamed online, so you won’t need to be at Apple Park to follow along.

Here’s everything you need to know about watching the event live.

When does Apple’s September 9 event start?

Apple’s September event begins at:

  • 10 am PT
  • 1 pm ET
  • 6 pm BST
  • 7 pm CEST
  • 10:30 pm IST

For viewers in the US, that means the event starts at 1 pm Eastern and 10 am Pacific. In India, the livestream begins at 10:30 pm IST on September 9.

Apple has officially listed the event on its Apple Events website, where viewers can also add it to their calendar ahead of time.

Watch the Apple event on Apple’s website

The simplest option is to watch directly through Apple’s official Apple Events page.

The livestream will be available on Apple’s website when the event begins. You can watch from a Mac, Windows PC, iPhone, iPad, or other compatible device with a modern web browser.

If you plan to watch from a computer, it’s worth opening the event page a few minutes before 10 am PT so you’re ready when the stream starts.

Watch on YouTube

Apple will also livestream the event on YouTube. Apple has confirmed YouTube Live as one of the official ways to watch the September 9 event.

This is probably the most convenient option if you prefer watching through a smart TV, streaming device, game console, phone, tablet, or computer where the YouTube app is already installed.

Apple’s YouTube channel also keeps past event streams available, so the September event should remain accessible there after the livestream ends.

Watch through the Apple TV app

The third official option is the Apple TV app. Apple’s event page specifically lists the Apple TV app as a place to watch the September 9 livestream.

That makes this a particularly convenient choice if you’re watching on an Apple TV, smart TV, iPhone, iPad, Mac, or another device that supports the Apple TV app.

Apple has also used the Apple TV app for previous product launches and event replays, making it an easy option for viewers who would rather watch the keynote on a television than a computer screen.

What time should you tune in?

If you want to catch the opening of the event, it’s a good idea to be ready about 10 to 15 minutes before the scheduled start.

For US viewers, that means around 12:45 pm ET or 9:45 am PT. Viewers in India should be ready around 10:15 pm IST.

The event itself is prerecorded rather than a traditional live stage presentation, but Apple will still stream the presentation at the scheduled time.

So, whether you’re watching from a laptop, phone, smart TV, or Apple TV, you have plenty of options. The easiest choices are Apple’s website, YouTube, or the Apple TV app—and all you really need to do is pick a screen and be ready when the stream starts at 10 am PT on September 9.
