Microsoft has announced that it will no longer be selling Windows 10 Home and Pro downloads after January 31st, 2023. This means that customers will no longer be able to purchase license keys for Windows 10 from Microsoft’s official website, more than two years before the company stops officially supporting the operating system on October 14th, 2025.

This decision has raised some questions about the availability of Windows 10 license keys and downloads from third-party retailers, such as Amazon. Microsoft has not yet provided any official statement on this matter, and only confirmed its own plans to discontinue its own sales of the product.

Amy Bartlow, Windows marketing director, stated in a statement, “An update was made to the Windows 10 product page to ensure customers have the latest information on purchasing options for Windows 10. Customers have until January 31, 2023, to purchase Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro from this site.” Microsoft is now focusing on promoting Windows 11 as the next-generation operating system and has emphasized that Windows 10 will continue to be supported until its end of life in October 2025.

It should be noted that while Microsoft is ending its own sales of Windows 10, it is still likely that Windows 10 license keys and even laptops and PCs with the OS preinstalled will still be available from third-party retailers for some time before Microsoft stops supporting the operating system. This means that customers who want to purchase Windows 10 will still have the option to do so, just not from the official Microsoft website.

To sum up, Microsoft’s decision to stop selling Windows 10 downloads on January 31st, 2023 is an indication that the company is now focusing on the next-generation operating system, Windows 11. However, this does not mean that Windows 10 will no longer be available to consumers, as the license keys and even laptops and PCs with the OS preinstalled will still be available from third-party retailers. Microsoft will continue to support Windows 10 until October 14th, 2025, despite the removal of sales on its official website.
