It looks like iPhone 16 owners have something exciting to look forward to this month! Starting on October 28th, Apple will roll out its first wave of Apple Intelligence features alongside iOS 18.1. According to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, this release will bring artificial intelligence to your iPhone, starting with some key updates like AI-powered notification summaries, memory creation in Photos, and a couple of new Siri enhancements.
For Siri users, while the full generative AI experience is still in development, you’ll see a more forgiving Siri that can handle your stumbling words better and offer a revamped visual interface. Meanwhile, notification summaries will help by giving you concise versions of your messages and emails—though they may not always be perfect, it’s a huge step forward.
For photography lovers, Apple is introducing a new “Clean Up” tool in Photos. It won’t turn your iPhone into a full-fledged Photoshop, but it’ll help remove unwanted objects from your photos with just a tap, making it easier to get those perfect snapshots.
These features will be available for the iPhone 15 Pro and later models, but Apple Silicon Macs and iPads with the M1 chip (and newer) will also see some of these AI updates. There are more features, like Apple’s Image Playground and Genmoji, expected later this year and in early 2025.
So, while some of the big AI tasks, like Siri completing actions across multiple apps, are still on the horizon, this update marks the beginning of Apple’s push into more intelligent device interactions.
If you own the iPhone 16, you’ll soon be able to experience Apple’s take on AI firsthand—just a few more weeks to go!
