Apple has another round of hardware announcements coming, and this time, the company wants to pro and tell. The company announced its October 28, 2026, product showcase on Monday, October 19, teasing what could be a significant week for the Mac and iPad lineups.
The event, branded “Pro and tell,” will take place in Los Angeles at 10 am PT (1 pm ET). Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Greg Joswiak, teased the announcement on X with a short video and the message, “Can’t wait to pro and tell next week.”
And yes, that is the tagline. Apple apparently decided that “show and tell” needed a little more professional-grade silicon.
Apple’s ‘Pro and tell’ could bring major Mac upgrades
Apple hasn’t officially revealed which products will appear at the event, but recent reports point to several Mac announcements, including a potentially significant redesign of the MacBook Pro.
The biggest rumored upgrade is a redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with OLED touchscreens. The new models could introduce touch input to the MacBook lineup for the first time, alongside a thinner and lighter design and a Dynamic Island-style feature at the top of the display.
That would represent a substantial change for Apple. The company has long maintained that macOS is designed around a keyboard, mouse, and trackpad rather than direct touchscreen interaction. If the reports prove accurate, the new MacBook Pro could mark a notable shift in how Apple approaches its flagship laptops.
However, the rumored touchscreen models may not be the only MacBook Pros on the agenda. Apple is also expected to introduce an updated entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by its next-generation M6 chip. Unlike the redesigned premium models, this version is reportedly set to retain the existing design.
The distinction matters because buyers could soon have two very different reasons to consider a new MacBook Pro: a conventional performance upgrade with a newer processor, or a more substantial hardware redesign built around an OLED touchscreen.
An updated iMac with the M6 chip is also rumored to be in the works. The desktop could receive Apple’s latest silicon while retaining a design similar to the current model.
Apple has not confirmed any of these rumored specifications or product configurations, so the final lineup remains a matter of speculation until the company makes its announcements.
An OLED iPad mini could join the announcements
The Mac lineup may get most of the attention, but the iPad mini could also receive a meaningful upgrade.
Reports suggest Apple is preparing a refreshed iPad mini with an OLED display, replacing the LCD panel used in the current model. The smaller tablet could also receive an updated speaker system and a repositioned front-facing camera designed for landscape-oriented video calls.
An OLED screen would be a particularly notable addition to the compact iPad. The technology can deliver deeper blacks and stronger contrast than a conventional LCD, making it useful for watching videos, viewing photos, and reading content in darker environments.
The rumored camera relocation would also make sense for a tablet increasingly used with keyboards and in landscape orientation. Instead of looking awkwardly off to one side during video calls, users could potentially get a more natural framing when holding the device horizontally.
Still, Apple has not confirmed the next iPad mini’s specifications, pricing, or availability. Those details will have to wait for an official announcement.
This is another Apple launch in an unusually busy October
The October 28 showcase follows Apple’s October 13 “Welcome home” product launch, which introduced a new HomeView smart home hub, an updated Apple TV 4K, a refreshed Siri Remote, and the second-generation HomePod mini.
That gives Apple two separate product events in the same month, with the latest announcement shifting the spotlight from the living room to computers and tablets.
The format is also worth watching. Apple has invited members of the media to an in-person “Apple Experience” in Los Angeles, suggesting a hands-on product showcase rather than necessarily a traditional, large-scale keynote. Apple could release product announcements and provide journalists with opportunities to try the new hardware.
As of October 19, the company has not confirmed a public livestream, product prices, preorder dates, or retail availability for the rumored devices.
For now, the date and the “Pro and tell” branding are official. The touchscreen MacBook Pro, M6-powered Macs, and OLED iPad mini are not.
Apple has given us the name of the show. Next week, we’ll find out what it actually has to show and tell.
