A person in a red sweater is working on a video editing software on a Apple desktop computer. The screen displays a timeline with multiple colorful video clips. The desktop setup includes a sleek monitor, keyboard, and what appears to be a compact computer unit. To the right of the keyboard, there is a mug, possibly containing a beverage. The ambient lighting suggests it might be evening or in a dimly lit room. There's also 2023 M2 Mac mini at the bottom of Apple monitor in the right side.

Apple‘s big iPhone 16 launch is right around the corner, but don’t think that’s the last you’ll hear from Cupertino this year. According to Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, Apple is gearing up for another event in October, where it could unveil refreshed versions of its smallest devices—namely, new iPads and Macs.

Gurman suggests Apple might be introducing an updated iPad mini for the first time since 2021, which would be a welcome refresh for fans of the compact tablet. Alongside that, we might also see a new Mac mini, now with the M4 chip. If you’re into tiny desktops, this is big news. The last major redesign for the Mac mini was over a decade ago, so it’s due for a revamp. Rumor has it the new Mac mini could be about the size of an Apple TV—so small, yet packing some serious power.

The October event could also feature updates to both the iMac and MacBook Pro, both getting the M4 chip treatment. Basically, Apple’s keeping busy refreshing almost its entire product lineup this year.

With the iPhone 16, updated Apple Watches, and new AirPods likely to be revealed at tomorrow’s “Glowtime” event, there aren’t too many untouched Apple products left. One exception? The AirPods Max. Gurman pointed out that they’re still available in stores, so don’t expect any big changes for those just yet—at least not this year. Looks like they’ll keep the Lightning port alive for a little longer.
