Apple announced “Self Service Repair” in 2021, and it is now available. Customers in the United States can now order the parts, tools, and manuals they need to repair their iPhones, including the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone SE (3rd generation) models. The “Self Service Repair” program is only available in the United States for now and will be coming to Europe later this year and will expand to more countries in the future.

Apple offers more than 200 individual parts and tools such as display, battery and camera. According to Apple’s press statement, the program will also include manuals, parts, and tools for performing repairs on Mac computers that use Apple silicon and will be available later this year.

However, customers can purchase display, battery, and camera modules to fix their iPhones at home by visiting support.apple.com/self-service-repair for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models, as well as the iPhone SE (3rd generation). Customers can then order the necessary parts and tools from the Apple Self Service Repair Store.

“Every genuine Apple part is designed and engineered for each product and goes through extensive testing to ensure the highest quality, safety, and reliability. The parts are the same ones — at the same price — as those available to Apple’s network of authorized repair providers. For certain repairs, customers will receive a credit when returning a replaced part for recycling,” Apple stated in the press release.

“The Apple tools available to customers in the Self Service Repair Store are the same as those used by Apple’s repair network. They are custom-designed to help provide the best repairs for Apple products and are engineered to withstand the rigors of high-volume, professional repair operations where safety and reliability are the utmost priority. The high-quality tools offered through Self Service Repair include torque drivers, repair trays, display and battery presses, and more,” the company added.

Customers who do not wish to buy tools for a single repair will be able to rent them for $49, allowing them access to professional repair tools. Customers will receive free shipping on the weeklong rental kits.
