Anker is known for its reliable and innovative charging solutions, and their latest offering might be a game-changer for anyone tired of juggling multiple cables. The Anker 2-in-1 USB-C cable promises to streamline your charging routine by allowing you to juice up two devices simultaneously from a single USB-C port.

This four-foot cable boasts a single USB-C connector on one end that cleverly splits into two USB-C connectors on the other. Each connector has an additional foot of cable, and a handy slider lets you adjust the length for a clean and organized setup. Anker claims the braided sheath is built to withstand the wear and tear of everyday use, enduring over 10,000 bends without breaking a sweat.

The real magic lies in the cable’s built-in “Smart Power Management” system. This technology automatically distributes power based on the specific needs of each connected device. No more fiddling with multiple chargers or wondering if your cable can handle the load – the Anker 2-in-1 takes care of it all.

When connected to a powerful USB-C adapter (supporting PD, PPS, and PIQ 2.0 protocols), the cable can deliver a whopping 140W to a single device. However, the power distribution gets more interesting when you connect two devices. Let’s say you’re charging a laptop and a smartphone simultaneously. If your laptop is a power hog, demanding more than 100W, the cable will intelligently adjust, providing up to 130W total. If neither device needs that much juice, the power delivery will be further divided, not exceeding 100W.

Anker offers some insights into the 2-in-1’s power management strategy. For instance, if you connect two laptops to a single power source, the first one plugged in will get priority access to more power. On the other hand, using a slower 60W adapter with a laptop and a smartphone might result in the laptop receiving only 30W, while the phone gets by with just 13.5W. This highlights the importance of pairing the cable with a powerful USB-C adapter to unlock its full potential.

It’s worth noting that while data transfer is supported, the Anker 2-in-1 doesn’t function as a traditional USB-C hub. Only the first device you connect will be able to transfer data, and the speeds are limited to USB 2.0 standards (480Mbps).

While we haven’t had the chance to put the cable through its paces yet, it seems like you might need to invest in a more robust USB-C power adapter to truly experience the benefits of this 2-in-1 solution. However, considering its $25 price tag, the Anker 2-in-1 USB-C charging cable is a compelling option for anyone who wants to declutter their bag and simplify their charging routine. So, if you’re tired of battling tangled wires, this innovative cable might be the answer you’ve been looking for.
