Let’s be real: that 10% battery warning flashing on your screen is probably one of the most universally dreaded sights of the modern world. Even with Apple‘s newest, shiniest devices like the just-released iPhone 17 Pro and the unbelievably thin iPhone Air, battery anxiety is still a thing. We’re all streaming, gaming, shooting 8K video, and doom-scrolling more than ever. The batteries are better, but our demands are greater.

Enter Mophie.

If you’ve owned a smartphone for any length of time, that name probably rings a bell. Mophie is one of the original gangsters of the battery case world, and they’ve just announced a new lineup of their iconic Juice Pack cases, custom-built for Apple’s latest hardware: the iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

In an era dominated by sleek MagSafe power banks that snap on and off, the dedicated battery case can feel a bit… well, classic. But Mophie is betting that the all-in-one convenience of a case that is a battery is still the winning ticket for a lot of people.

Here’s the lowdown on what they’re offering.

The biggest challenge with the new iPhone Air is its defining feature: its incredible thinness. The last thing you want to do is slap a giant, chunky brick on a phone that’s marketed as being “thin and light.”

Mophie seems to have understood the assignment. The Juice Pack for iPhone Air was designed to be as slim as possible, adding just 15mm of thickness. That’s the thinnest of the new trio.

Inside that slim profile, they’ve packed a 2,400mAh battery. Mophie claims this will provide up to 60 percent more power to the device. For a phone as power-sipping as the Air is rumored to be, that’s enough to comfortably turn a one-day phone into a solid two-day contender. It’s for the person who’s running between meetings, classes, or cafes and just needs to know their phone won’t die before they get home.

For the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max users, Mophie is leaning into the “workhorse” mentality. These are the folks who are actually using the Pro features—editing video, playing demanding games, or spending all day on a remote job site.

For them, Mophie has two beefier options:

  • Juice Pack for iPhone 17 Pro: Comes with a 3,000mAh battery.
  • Juice Pack for iPhone 17 Pro Max: Gets the biggest of the bunch, a 3,600mAh battery.

Interestingly, Mophie claims both of these cases provide 50 percent more battery for their respective phones. This suggests the Pro Max has a significantly larger internal battery than the regular Pro, which tracks with Apple’s usual strategy.

These cases are a bit thicker, clocking in at just over 19mm. But let’s be honest, if you’re buying a Pro Max and adding a battery case, “ultra-slim” probably isn’t your number one priority. “Ultra-reliable” is.

According to Mophie, all three cases clock in at a surprisingly uniform 98 grams.

A battery case in 2025 has to do more than just hold a charge. Mophie has included a handful of smart, practical features that show they’re still thinking about the user experience.

  • Protection: This is the other half of the value proposition. It’s a case, after all. Mophie says all three models have raised edges to protect that beautiful new screen from face-down drops and high-impact protection to shield the phone’s corners and back from bumps.
  • Smarter charging: The cases all feature passthrough USB-C charging. This is a big one. It means you can plug your standard iPhone charger into the case, and it will intelligently charge your iPhone to full first, and then it will start charging the Juice Pack. No swapping cables, no charging two separate things.
  • Passthrough audio: For the audiophiles who still swear by their wired headphones, the case also supports passthrough USB-C audio. You can plug your headphones directly into the case’s port.
  • Lanyard loop: A small but very welcome touch. You can attach a lanyard or wrist strap for extra drop security.

Now, let’s talk about the elephant in the room: MagSafe.

The press materials make no mention of MagSafe compatibility. This means you have to make a choice. These cases are for the person who is committed to the all-in-one battery solution. You’re trading the “snap on, snap off” convenience of a MagSafe battery pack for the “set it and forget it” security of a Juice Pack.

You won’t be snapping this off to mount it in your car, and you won’t be using a MagSafe charging stand at your desk. This is a return to a more traditional, “dumb” (in a good way) charging method. You’ll be using a good old-fashioned USB-C cable.

Mophie’s new Juice Pack lineup is a confident statement that there’s still a market for the dedicated battery case.

It’s not for the person who loves the MagSafe ecosystem. It’s for the road warrior, the busy parent, the concert-goer, or the chronic commuter who simply cannot, under any circumstances, have their phone die. It’s for the person who values a “one-piece” solution over a modular one.

All three Juice Pack cases—for the iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max—are priced at $99.95. They are available to order now from the Mophie website.
