Spotify is quietly testing the waters for a new premium service known as Music Pro. If the leaks are to be believed, this innovative tier is set to offer a host of exclusive features—from enhanced audio quality and remixing tools to early access to concert tickets—that could redefine what it means to truly experience music.

Imagine having the ability to not only listen to your favorite tracks in high fidelity but also to experiment with mixing different songs, all while tapping into artificial intelligence to help create the perfect mashup. That’s the promise of Music Pro. According to Bloomberg, Spotify is considering an additional charge of up to $5.99 per month on top of its standard subscription fees. This extra cost, however, is not arbitrary; it reflects a significant expansion of the service’s capabilities aimed squarely at the most ardent fans.

While the details are still under wraps, Bloomberg reports suggest that Music Pro is set to roll out in phases later this year. Spotify is fine-tuning the offering and working through negotiations with major music companies to secure the necessary rights. Because of these ongoing discussions, both the pricing and the timeline remain flexible, with costs expected to vary by geography—lower in less-developed markets, for instance.

One of the most intriguing aspects of Music Pro is its focus on creativity. Subscribers may soon have the ability to remix tracks from different artists, a feature that could empower fans to become amateur DJs in their own right. Leveraging artificial intelligence, Spotify plans to streamline this process, making it easier for users to experiment with and share their unique musical creations.

This kind of interactivity is not entirely new. Competitors like Tidal and SoundCloud have dabbled with remixing tools in the past. However, Spotify’s massive user base—boasting over 675 million users and more than 250 million paying subscribers—positions it uniquely to popularize this feature on an unprecedented scale.

Beyond the studio, Spotify is also venturing into the world of live music. The company is testing various methods to integrate concert ticket sales into the Music Pro tier. Early plans indicate that subscribers could gain access to presales, secure better seats, or enjoy other exclusive perks at live events. While negotiations with major promoters and ticket sellers are still in the early stages, this move underscores Spotify’s ambition to become a more holistic platform for music lovers.

For years, Spotify has maintained a relatively uniform pricing model across its vast library of music. This new tier marks a strategic pivot towards more differentiated pricing packages aimed at various segments of its audience. As the streaming giant continues to evolve, it’s also exploring other revenue streams, such as its recent foray into audiobooks. This diversification is seen as a necessary response to an increasingly competitive market where platforms like Apple Music and Amazon Music Unlimited already offer high-quality audio experiences.

Spotify’s foray into a super-premium tier isn’t just about adding more features—it’s about recognizing that not all listeners are created equal. Some fans are willing to pay a premium for a more immersive and interactive experience. With Music Pro, Spotify appears to be betting on the idea that the most dedicated fans will happily invest more in a service that goes beyond mere playback.
