According to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a 15-inch MacBook Air that might be introduced as early as next spring. The 15-inch MacBook Air would be Apple‘s largest MacBook Air to date, and it would be similar in size to the larger-screened 16-inch MacBook Pro. At 13.6 inches, the current MacBook Air 2022 has the largest display Apple has ever released.
The 15-inch MacBook Air would have the same design as the present 13.6-inch model, removing the tapered frame that had been used for years on the MacBook Air.
Apple is also working on a smaller 12-inch MacBook to go alongside the 15-inch MacBook Air, however, the name of the smaller computer remains unknown. Since the 12-inch Retina MacBook, which has since been discontinued, Apple has not issued a 12-inch notebook.
The 15-inch MacBook Air could arrive in early 2023 at a planned spring event, while the 12-inch MacBook could arrive at the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024.
High-end MacBook Pro versions with M2 Pro and M2 Max CPUs are in the works, with a possible delivery date of the end of 2022, however, Gurman warns that the timeframe could be pushed out to 2023.
The M2 Max chip will include a 12-core CPU and up to a 38-core GPU, up from the existing M1 Max‘s 10-core CPU and 32-core GPU. Apple is also working on M3 processors for devices that will be released in the future.
Additionally, Apple is working on new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models that are believed to feature the M-series CPUs and will be released later in 2022.
