Get ready to mark your calendars: Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event is set for July 9 in Brooklyn, New York, and the smartphone world is buzzing with anticipation. Over the past few months, the Galaxy Z Fold7 has been the subject of countless rumors, renders, and whispered specs—but for the first time, we’re seeing the device in the real world. A new set of hands-on images shared on X by leaker Jukan Choi gives us our clearest glimpse yet at Samsung’s latest foldable star.

The standout detail in these photos is the Fold7’s fresh colorway. Previously teased in Samsung’s own promotional materials, the deep yet vibrant “Blue Shadow” variant makes a striking first impression. From the back panel to the camera bump and even the side rails, the phone’s finish is uniformly drenched in this rich hue—an evolution of the regimented blues we’ve seen on past Galaxy devices. Samsung’s Irish website earlier this week officially listed Blue Shadow alongside Jet Black and Silver Shadow as launch-day options, lending further credibility to the leak.

Up close, the camera island itself looks familiar—vertically stacked triple lenses echo the Fold6’s layout—but with one key upgrade: pronounced metal camera rings around each sensor. These rings not only add a premium touch but also hint at Samsung’s focus on photography quality this generation. In another small yet notable tweak, the LED flash has been relocated slightly lower on the island, likely freeing internal space for improved optics or battery capacity.

If there’s one area where the Z Fold7 promises to outshine its predecessors, it’s in its profile. The Fold7 measures a jaw-dropping 4.2mm when unfolded and just 8.9mm when folded—a dramatic slimming compared to the Fold6’s 5.6mm and 12.1mm, respectively. Those same leaks peg the device’s weight at 215 grams, shaving off 24g from last year’s model and making it one of the lightest “book-style” foldables on the market.

These reductions don’t come at the expense of rigidity. Reports indicate Samsung has doubled down on its Armor Aluminum frame and introduced a glass-ceramic back panel—materials that promise both durability and a premium in-hand feel. Early adopters will be keen to see how the device balances this newfound svelteness with robust build quality, especially around the hinge mechanism.

Samsung’s foldables have always set the bar for screen innovation, and the Z Fold7 appears ready to continue that trend. Rumors point to an 8.2‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, likely sporting a 120Hz refresh rate and QXGA+ resolution, which means crisp visuals whether you’re watching videos or multitasking across multiple apps. The cover screen, meanwhile, is said to stretch to 6.5 inches with a cinematic 21:9 aspect ratio—ideal for one-handed browsing or catching notifications at a glance.

Other whispers suggest Samsung may have further reduced the visible crease along the foldline and that the under-display camera (UDC) might be replaced with a more traditional punch‑hole cutout—an unconventional move given the industry’s push for invisible selfie cams. If true, it would underline Samsung’s willingness to prioritize display quality and user experience over headline-grabbing specs.

Powering this engineering marvel is expected to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy—Samsung’s custom-tuned variant of Qualcomm’s flagship chipset—ensuring top-tier performance for gaming, productivity, and AI-driven features. Memory options will range up to 16GB of RAM, paired with up to a roomy 1TB of onboard storage for those who need ample space for photos, video, and large apps.

Battery capacity looks set to remain at 4,400mAh, matching the Fold6, but with Samsung’s efficiency gains in chipset and display tech, real-world endurance may see a boost. And yes, 25W wired charging support returns, though wireless and reverse wireless charging capabilities are expected to keep pace with the competition. Out of the box, the Fold7 will run One UI 8 atop Android 16, bringing new Galaxy AI features designed to turn your phone into a smarter companion.
