OpenAI's GPT-4 Turbo offers extended input capabilities and knowledge up to April 2023

In its first-ever developer conference, OpenAI announced the next evolution of its language model, GPT-4 Turbo, which promises to take human-AI interactions to new heights.

GPT-4 Turbo stands out with its ability to handle much longer input texts compared to its predecessors, pushing the limit to a staggering 300 pages of text, a significant leap from the prior constraint of just 50 pages. This expanded capacity opens up possibilities for more intricate and detailed prompts, raising the potential for richer and more insightful responses.

OpenAI has not only extended GPT-4 Turbo’s input capability but also equipped it with an up-to-date knowledge base. While the previous version was last updated in September 2021, the new model boasts information up to April 2023. This knowledge enhancement positions it as a more reliable source of information in today’s fast-paced world.

What’s truly impressive is the GPT-4 Turbo’s newfound versatility. It now accepts images as prompts directly within the chat interface, generating captions or descriptions for the visual content. Moreover, the model has acquired the capability to handle text-to-speech requests. Users can also upload documents for analysis, a feature that sets it apart from other AI chatbots.

Developers will welcome the cost-effective aspect of GPT-4 Turbo, as OpenAI has significantly reduced the expenses associated with input and output tokens, making it three times cheaper to utilize.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT has already gained widespread popularity, boasting over 100 million weekly active users worldwide and adoption by more than 92 percent of Fortune 500 companies. Additionally, OpenAI made a bold promise to support its customers, including enterprises, in case of legal claims related to copyright issues stemming from the use of its products.

The announcement didn’t stop at GPT-4 Turbo; OpenAI also introduced “mini-ChatGPTs,” single-application tools designed for specific tasks. These tools can be created without coding knowledge and will be readily shareable within the community. OpenAI plans to establish a “store” where verified builders can make their creations accessible to a wider audience.

While the release date for GPT-4 Turbo’s general availability remains undisclosed, it is currently accessible for a monthly fee of $20, promising to revolutionize the way we interact with AI.
