Motorola has arrived at IFA 2026 with more than just another smartphone. The company has unveiled the new Motorola Edge 70 Plus, Moto Watch Ultra and Moto Snap wireless charger, creating a trio of devices that collectively show where Motorola sees its next wave of consumer hardware heading.
The Edge 70 Plus gets the most attention, with a 200-megapixel camera, a large 6,500mAh battery, a 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED display and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor. But the more interesting story may be what Motorola is doing around the phone. The company is also bringing back Wear OS with the Moto Watch Ultra, adding LTE connectivity and Polar-powered fitness features, while the Moto Snap charger gives compatible phones a more familiar magnetic wireless charging experience.
In other words, Motorola’s IFA lineup is less about one killer specification and more about building a connected set of products that can fit into different parts of a user’s day.
The Motorola Edge 70 Plus is the headline act.
The Edge 70 Plus is designed to sit in the upper-mid-range part of Motorola’s lineup, but the specification sheet certainly doesn’t read like a phone that is trying to play it safe.
The biggest headline is the 200MP main camera. Motorola says it is the highest-resolution camera sensor it has used in one of its camera systems, and it pairs the sensor with optical image stabilization, 10x Super Zoom, 4K video recording and Pantone Validated color and skin-tone technology.
As with other high-resolution smartphone cameras, the 200MP number isn’t necessarily the resolution users will see in every finished photograph. Motorola says the sensor combines 16 pixels into one, producing an effective 12.5MP image. The idea is less about producing enormous 200MP files all the time and more about using the additional sensor data to improve detail, low-light performance and flexibility.
There is also a dedicated macro camera, while the 32MP front-facing camera can record 4K video with Adaptive Stabilization. Motorola has added AI-powered processing through its Photo Enhancement Engine, which is intended to handle some of the image-processing work automatically rather than forcing users to manually adjust settings.
That fits into a broader trend we’re seeing across smartphone cameras: manufacturers are increasingly treating computational photography as just as important as the sensor itself. Motorola is clearly hoping the combination of high-resolution hardware and automated processing can make the Edge 70 Plus competitive for people who simply want to point, shoot and get a good-looking photo.
The phone itself has an equally distinctive visual approach. Motorola has gone with a quad-curved design that wraps the curves from the display toward the rear of the handset. The company is also putting a surprising amount of emphasis on finishes and colors, with PANTONE Mountain View, Gray Lilac, Milky Blue and Sage available across silk-, acetate- and leather-inspired treatments.
It is a continuation of Motorola’s recent push to make its phones feel more like fashion accessories rather than anonymous slabs of glass and metal.
The display is a 6.78-inch Extreme AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. Motorola says it has been calibrated with Pantone validation, while the phone also supports Dolby Atmos through its stereo speakers. The high refresh rate should make everyday scrolling feel smooth and can be particularly useful for compatible games.
The screen is also part of Motorola’s broader entertainment pitch. The company is positioning the phone as a device for gaming, streaming and media consumption, rather than simply another camera-centric handset.
Powering all of this is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 Mobile Platform. The chip isn’t Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon 8-series silicon, but it was designed specifically to bring features such as generative AI, gaming and advanced camera processing to more affordable phones. Qualcomm says the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 brought nearly 20% CPU performance gains, up to 40% faster GPU performance and more than 30% improved AI performance over its predecessor when it launched.
Motorola pairs the chip with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, along with an internal vapor-chamber cooling system. AI-powered RAM Boost is also available to help with multitasking.
The battery may ultimately be one of the Edge 70 Plus’ biggest selling points.
Motorola has fitted a 6,500mAh battery, and the company claims up to 42 hours of talk time, 34 hours of video streaming or 23 hours of social-media use under its testing conditions. Wired charging reaches 45W through Motorola’s TurboPower system.
For gamers, there is also bypass charging. When enabled inside Gametime mode, the phone can draw power directly from the charger after reaching a selected battery threshold instead of continually charging the battery while the game is running. The goal is to reduce heat and potentially limit long-term battery wear during extended gaming sessions.
Durability hasn’t been ignored, either. Motorola says the phone has been independently tested against MIL-STD-810H requirements and uses Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, with the company claiming improved drop performance and up to twice the scratch resistance compared with certain competing lithium aluminosilicate glasses. Those are laboratory-based claims rather than a guarantee that the phone is indestructible, but the added durability should still appeal to people who don’t want to baby their handset.
Motorola is also bringing Google‘s AI tools along for the ride, including Gemini and Circle to Search. That means the Edge 70 Plus isn’t being positioned purely as a piece of hardware; Motorola is increasingly treating AI as part of the everyday phone experience.
The Moto Watch Ultra takes a very different route.
If the Edge 70 Plus is about making the traditional smartphone more capable, the Moto Watch Ultra is about giving Motorola a more serious answer to the Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch crowd.
The most important change isn’t actually the screen or the case. It’s the software.
Motorola is returning to Wear OS with the Moto Watch Ultra, giving the watch access to Google’s broader smartwatch ecosystem and the Google Play Store. Users can install apps including Google Maps, Google Messages, YouTube Music and Google Gemini, while Google Wallet enables contactless payments.
That immediately makes the Moto Watch Ultra more interesting than a typical proprietary-OS smartwatch. Wear OS gives Motorola access to an established platform, but it also puts the watch into direct competition with a much more mature field of Wear OS devices.
The hardware is suitably premium. The watch has a 46mm stainless-steel case and a 1.5-inch OLED display capable of reaching up to 2,700 nits. It supports an always-on display and uses Gorilla Glass 3 for additional protection.
There are 22mm interchangeable bands, including silicone and genuine leather options, so Motorola is clearly trying to make the watch work as both a fitness device and an everyday accessory.
But the real differentiator is the Polar partnership.
Motorola has worked with Polar to bring a collection of fitness and wellness algorithms to the watch. These include Nightly Recharge for recovery, Sleep Plus Stages for sleep analysis and Serene breathing exercises, along with activity scoring, heart-rate-based intensity zones, calorie estimates and metabolic insights.
There is also a Running Coach feature designed to provide guided workouts directly from the wrist.
That makes the Moto Watch Ultra feel much more deliberately aimed at people who care about fitness rather than simply wanting smartphone notifications on their wrist. Motorola is trying to borrow some of Polar’s credibility in fitness tracking while pairing it with the convenience of a full Wear OS smartwatch.
The other major upgrade is connectivity.
The Moto Watch Ultra is Motorola’s first Moto Watch with LTE functionality. With a supported eSIM and carrier plan, users can make and receive calls, send messages and manage notifications without keeping their phone nearby. Dual-band GPS is also included for more precise positioning.
That combination changes the watch from a phone companion into something that can genuinely operate on its own for stretches of the day.
Motorola has also added its Qira assistant to the watch on compatible Motorola and Lenovo devices. Users can invoke it from the wrist to ask questions or access information stored across compatible devices.
There is, however, a trade-off.
Battery life is nowhere near what you might expect from some fitness-focused smartwatches. Motorola quotes up to two days of active use with the always-on display turned off, and says a 15-minute charge can provide up to 24 hours of active use under its testing conditions. That’s a very different proposition from Motorola’s previous proprietary-OS approach, where battery life could stretch much further.
It is the classic Wear OS compromise: considerably more apps, services and smartwatch functionality, but more frequent charging.
The watch is rated IP68 and 5ATM for water resistance, so it should be comfortable with workouts, rain and swimming-related use within the specified conditions.
The Moto Snap charger completes the picture.
The third product may not generate anywhere near as much excitement as a 200MP camera or an LTE smartwatch, but the Moto Snap wireless charger could be one of the more useful products Motorola announced at IFA.
It is Motorola’s answer to the increasingly familiar magnetic wireless charger.
The charger supports up to 25W wireless charging on compatible Qi2.2 devices. Motorola also says supported Motorola phones can reach up to 30W using the company’s own charging protocol. A 1.5-meter braided USB-C cable is included, and the charger can work through compatible magnetic cases.
The distinction between those charging speeds matters. The 25W Qi2.2 figure applies to compatible devices, while the 30W figure depends on a supported Motorola phone and its charging protocol. Not every Motorola phone will necessarily reach those maximum speeds.
Motorola has also focused on the less glamorous side of wireless charging. The Moto Snap is designed for cooler charging and includes overheat and overcharge protection. Motorola says it consumes zero standby power, while its magnetic alignment is intended to make positioning the phone less fiddly.
That’s the appeal of Qi2-style charging in a nutshell: the magnet does the alignment for you.
It also puts Motorola more squarely into the magnetic accessory ecosystem that Apple helped popularize with MagSafe. The company isn’t simply selling a charging pad anymore; it is trying to make magnetic charging part of its broader accessory strategy.
One ecosystem, three very different products.
Taken individually, none of these products completely changes the market. Put them together, though, and Motorola’s strategy at IFA 2026 becomes easier to see.
The Edge 70 Plus is trying to make a strong case around camera hardware, battery life, design and entertainment without relying on a flagship Snapdragon processor. The Moto Watch Ultra is Motorola’s attempt to become more serious in smartwatches by embracing Wear OS, LTE and Polar’s fitness expertise. And the Moto Snap wireless charger gives Motorola another piece of hardware to sell around its phones.
There’s also a noticeable emphasis on interoperability.
Google’s Gemini and Circle to Search are present on the phone. Gemini and Google apps are available on the watch. Motorola Qira can connect compatible Lenovo and Motorola devices. The charger then provides another physical link between the phone and its accessories.
That’s a much more ecosystem-oriented strategy than Motorola’s traditional reputation might suggest.
The question, of course, is how these products are priced and where Motorola actually sells them.
Motorola says the Edge 70 Plus will begin rolling out in select European and Middle Eastern markets in the coming weeks. The company separately says the Moto Watch Ultra will start at €429 and the Moto Snap wireless charger at €39, with both launching across selected markets in Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, North America and Asia-Pacific.
In the United States, Motorola has reportedly priced the Moto Watch Ultra at $349.99, with sales beginning September 10 through Motorola and broader carrier distribution following.
The Edge 70 Plus is a different story for American buyers. Motorola’s current announcement doesn’t list a U.S. launch for the phone, so anyone hoping to buy one in the United States will have to wait for clearer regional availability.
For Indian buyers, there is another wrinkle: Motorola specifically says the Motorola Edge 70 Neo will arrive in India over the coming months, but it does not announce Indian availability for the Edge 70 Plus in the IFA announcement.
That regional split is worth watching because Motorola has historically been particularly aggressive with the Edge family in markets such as India.
For now, though, the IFA 2026 lineup gives Motorola something it has increasingly needed: a broader hardware story.
The Edge 70 Plus isn’t trying to win solely on processor benchmarks. The Moto Watch Ultra isn’t trying to beat every smartwatch on battery life. And the Moto Snap charger isn’t trying to reinvent wireless charging.
Instead, Motorola is putting together a collection of products that emphasize cameras, battery life, design, fitness, AI and everyday convenience. And in a smartphone market where the differences between generations can sometimes feel microscopic, that broader approach may be more important than any single specification on the box.
