Nomad’s new stands now support 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging

You will need your own 40W brick for Nomad's new 25W stands.

Let’s be honest: “fast” wireless charging has always felt a bit… underwhelming. While our phones get mightier, our wireless pads have been stuck in the 15W slow lane. We plug in for 30 minutes and get a real boost; we drop our phone on a wireless stand and hope for the best.

That sluggish pace might finally be changing.

Nomad, a brand synonymous with building charging gear that looks more like a desk sculpture than tech clutter, has just announced updated versions of its flagship charging hubs. And the headline feature isn’t just a new color.

The new Stand One and Stand One Max are here, and they’re among the first to support the new Qi2.2 standard. This isn’t just an incremental update. This new spec unlocks wireless charging speeds of up to 25W, a significant leap that finally starts to blur the line between wireless convenience and wired speed.

This 25W capability is squarely aimed at the future. Nomad is explicitly nodding toward next-generation devices like the Pixel 10 Pro XL and the iPhone 16 and 17 series as the kind of hardware that will be able to take full advantage of these new speeds.

This is a classic Nomad move: building premium, future-proof gear for users who plan to own the best-of-the-best.

As with all things Nomad, the build quality is a huge part of the story. These aren’t lightweight plastic pucks that will fly off your nightstand when you grab your phone. Both the Stand One and Stand One Max are hefty, substantial pieces of hardware, crafted from a striking mix of high-gloss glass and precision CNC-machined aluminum. They come in two finishes, Silver and Carbide, and include a durable braided USB-C cable in the box.

What’s not in the box, however, is a power adapter.

To hit those new 25W speeds (and power the other charging zones), both stands require a robust 40W USB-C charger, which you’ll have to provide yourself.

This has become a familiar story in the tech world. According to the FAQ on Nomad’s website, the company believes “many people already own multiple power adapters and that providing additional units creates unnecessary waste.“

It’s an environmentally conscious stance that’s hard to argue with, but it’s also a hidden cost. If you don’t have a spare 40W brick lying around, you’ll need to factor one into your purchase.

So, what’s the difference between the two new stands? It all comes down to what’s in your everyday carry.

The Stand One (new version)

  • Price: $119
  • Weight: 575g (over 1.2 pounds)

The Stand One is the more focused of the two. Its main feature is the 25W Qi2.2 magnetic-style charger, which holds your phone at a perfect upright angle for desktop viewing or StandBy mode.

The big upgrade for this new model (besides the 25W speed) is the addition of a second charging spot. Tucked into the base, right behind the phone support, is a 5W wireless pad perfectly shaped for your AirPods or, as Nomad notes, “most other wireless charging-compatible headphones.“

It’s a smart, space-saving 2-in-1 solution for the person who just needs to charge their phone and earbuds.

The Stand One Max (new version)

Your browser does not support the video tag.
  • Price: $159
  • Weight: 875g (nearly 2 pounds)

The Stand One Max is the all-in-one desktop command center. It’s a 3-in-1 beast designed specifically for the Apple ecosystem. You get:

  1. The main 25W Qi2.2 phone charger.
  2. A vertically-mounted, official MFi Apple Watch fast charger.
  3. A 5W earbud charging indent (carried over from the previous model) is neatly located behind the watch charger.

Crucially, this new Qi2.2-compatible model carries forward a critical design fix from the previous generation. The original, first-gen Stand One Max had a design flaw where you couldn’t mount your phone horizontally (for watching videos, for example) if an Apple Watch was also charging, as the watch band would get in the way.

That issue is long-gone. The new layout provides plenty of clearance, making all three charging spots fully usable at the same time. At 875 grams, this thing is a veritable anchor; it will not budge.

Nomad continues to do what it does best: serve the premium end of the market with impeccably built, aesthetically pleasing gear that’s built to last.

These new stands aren’t cheap, and the “bring-your-own-charger” policy adds a potential extra expense. But if you’re the kind of person who invests in flagship phones every year and wants a charging station that feels just as premium—and is ready for the 25W future—the new Stand One and Stand One Max are now available on Nomad’s online store.
