If you’re a fan of the Breaking Bad universe, it’s time to clear your weekend schedule. Vince Gilligan, the celebrated writer-director behind Breaking Bad and co-creator of Better Call Saul, has returned to television with a brand new, highly anticipated sci-fi series. And the best part? It reunites him with Better Call Saul‘s incomparable Rhea Seehorn.

The series, Pluribus, just dropped on Apple TV, and it’s already the show everyone is talking about. Before it even premiered, Apple was confident enough to renew it for a second season.

Here’s everything you need to know about the show and exactly how to watch it.

What is ‘Pluribus‘ about?

First, let’s get the premise straight, because it’s a wild ride.

Forget the meth labs of Albuquerque—though Gilligan does return to the New Mexico landscape. Pluribus is a mind-bending sci-fi thriller. The series kicks off with a mysterious event known as “The Joining,” a global phenomenon triggered by an alien signal that transmits a blueprint for a new kind of RNA.

This isn’t your typical zombie virus. Instead of turning people into monsters, it links (almost) all of humanity into a single, collective hive mind. The “Joined” are calm, cooperative, and eerily content, their individuality erased in favor of a placid group consciousness.

This is where Rhea Seehorn comes in. She stars as Carol Sturka, a cynical and struggling historical romance author who finds herself in a waking nightmare: she is one of only 13 people in the entire world who are immune to The Joining.

The show follows Carol as she navigates a new world where everyone she knows and loves has been absorbed into this “psychic glue,” leaving her to figure out what’s happened, why she’s an exception, and whether humanity is even worth saving from its newfound, happiness-filled prison.

When and how to watch ‘Pluribus‘?

The first two episodes of Pluribus officially premiered on Apple TV on Friday, November 7, 2025.

The rest of the nine-episode first season will be released weekly, with a new episode dropping every Friday.

Pro tip: Apple TV almost always releases its new content a bit early. New episodes are typically available to stream starting at 9 pm ET on Thursday nights (6 pm PT), so you can often get a head start before the official Friday premiere.

How to get Apple TV?

Since Pluribus is an Apple Original, you’ll need an Apple TV subscription to watch it. If you don’t already have one, you’ve got a few options.

  • Standard subscription: The service costs $12.99/month. This single subscription can be shared with up to five other family members.
  • 7-day free trial: If you’re a new subscriber, you can sign up and get a 7-day free trial to check out Pluribus and the rest of the Apple TV library (like Severance, Ted Lasso, and Silo) before you’re charged.
  • 3-month free trial: This is the best deal available. If you’ve recently purchased a new Apple device (like an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV 4K), you are eligible to redeem a free three-month subscription to the service.

If you’re looking to bundle your streaming services, Apple just launched a new package with Peacock that’s a pretty solid deal. This is perfect if you also want access to shows like The Office and Yellowstone or live sports.

  • Apple TV + Peacock (ad-supported): $14.99/month
  • Apple TV + Peacock (ad-free): $19.99/month

Given that Apple TV is $12.99 on its own, you’re essentially adding Peacock for just a couple of extra dollars a month. You can sign up for this bundle directly through either service.
