Samsung Medison is putting artificial intelligence at the center of its latest push into women’s health diagnostics, showcasing the HERA Z Series at the ISUOG World Congress in London while completing the lineup with its new HERA Z10 premium ultrasound system.

The company introduced the HERA Z10 alongside the flagship HERA Z20, positioning the two systems as a unified premium ultrasound platform for obstetrics and gynecology. Samsung Medison says the lineup is designed to support both fetal and maternal care, with AI-assisted measurements, automated workflows and imaging technologies aimed at helping clinicians make faster and more consistent assessments.

The HERA Z Series was showcased at the 2026 ISUOG World Congress, which took place September 4–7 at ExCeL London. The event was officially the 36th ISUOG World Congress after being relocated from Dubai to London earlier this year.

HERA Z10 brings AI-focused workflows to the lineup

The HERA Z10 builds on the AI workflow capabilities Samsung Medison previously introduced with the HERA Z20, while adding an advanced beamforming architecture intended to improve image clarity.

One of its headline features is Live ViewAssist, an AI-assisted workflow designed to reduce the time required for detailed mid-trimester ultrasound examinations. According to clinical research conducted with professors Giuseppe Rizzo and Daniele Di Mascio of Sapienza University of Rome, Samsung says the technology can reduce scan times by up to 52%.

Another feature, EzStructure, is designed to automate parts of the measurement process. Samsung says it can reduce manual manipulation for key measurement parameters by up to 71%, potentially improving consistency while reducing the physical and operational burden on clinicians.

These tools reflect a broader shift in ultrasound systems, where AI is increasingly being used not simply to enhance images but to automate repetitive parts of examinations and help clinicians work through complex diagnostic workflows more efficiently.

More tools for high-risk pregnancies

Samsung Medison is also emphasizing the HERA Z Series’ role beyond routine fetal imaging.

The systems include MV-Flow 3D, which is designed to capture high-resolution views of microvascular blood flow. Samsung says the technology can support the management of high-risk pregnancies, including examinations involving placenta accreta and abnormal uterine or umbilical cord blood vessels.

FibroidVue adds another AI-assisted capability, automatically segmenting, visualizing and measuring the uterus, endometrium and uterine fibroids. The goal is to make these assessments more efficient while giving clinicians a more intuitive view of relevant anatomy.

The broader HERA Z platform is also designed to cover maternal and fetal care through features such as automated measurement tools and dedicated neonatal probes, reflecting Samsung Medison’s effort to position its ultrasound technology as a more comprehensive women’s health platform rather than a system focused solely on fetal examinations.

Samsung connects ultrasound with its digital ecosystem

Samsung Medison used its presence at ISUOG to demonstrate more than the ultrasound hardware itself. Its booth included an interactive experience built around the theme “ART OF ULTRASOUND,” including an AI-generated digital art exhibition based on fetal ultrasound imagery.

The company also demonstrated a digital workflow involving Galaxy Tab devices, allowing clinicians and mothers to monitor fetal growth records throughout pregnancy.

Samsung Healthcare’s ISUOG program also featured presentations and demonstrations covering AI-assisted fetal cardiac assessment, fetal echocardiography, maternal cardiac monitoring and gynecologic imaging.

For Samsung Medison, the HERA Z10 is therefore more than a second model in its flagship ultrasound family. The company is using the expanded lineup to push a vision of AI-assisted women’s healthcare in which imaging, automated measurements and digital patient information work together to streamline clinical decision-making.

“The launch of the HERA Z10 is more than just an addition to our product lineup,” Jihyun Kim, Head of the CX Team at Samsung Medison, said in the company’s announcement. Samsung says the new system is intended to extend the clinical capabilities of the HERA Z Series to a wider range of healthcare environments.

With the HERA Z20 and HERA Z10 now forming the flagship HERA Z Series, Samsung Medison has a broader premium ultrasound portfolio aimed at hospitals and clinicians looking for advanced imaging alongside increasingly automated AI-driven workflows.

Medical-device availability, features and transducer options can vary by country and region.
