Be ready for some bad news if you connect your Android or iOS phone to your Computer via the Alienware Mobile Connect or Dell Mobile Connect apps. The apps will be discontinued on January 31, 2023, according to information provided by Dell on a recent support page. Additionally, the apps won’t be available for download on July 31, 2022, and discontinued starting on November 30, as noted by Windows Central.

Windows 10 devices with Bluetooth functionality include Inspiron, Vostro, G-Series, Alienware, and Consumer XPS models. With the proper adjustments, it can also function on Windows 11 or Windows 10. Since it uses Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to link iPhones to Dell systems, you can access texts, and photos, and even share your iPhone‘s screen on your PC.

Back to the very bad news, Dell suggests removing Alienware Mobile Connect or Dell Mobile Connect from your Dell computers before the regional discontinuation date in order to help free up storage. That day is January 31, 2023, in the US.

On November 30, 2022, it will happen much sooner in other countries. Daniel Rubino of Windows Central noted that the software is also not pre-installed on the new XPS 13 Plus.

Although there isn’t a clear explanation, Dell’s discontinuation is probably due to legal issues and license problems. Screenonvate created Dell Mobile Connect, and it was purchased by Intel for $150 million in late 2021, and the company recently showcased the app’s use with Intel Evo PCs.
