For those longing for the tactile feedback and typing experience of a physical keyboard, relief is on the way for more iPhone models. The company behind the new “Clicks” accessory, a physical keyboard case inspired by the once-popular BlackBerry smartphone, has announced that it will soon expand availability to several additional iPhone models.

In an email shared by Parker Ortolani on the social media platform Threads yesterday, the company revealed that the Clicks keyboard designed for the iPhone 15 Pro will begin shipping to customers worldwide by April 15th. Meanwhile, on the Clicks website, the estimated shipping dates for the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max versions are slated for April 30th and May, respectively.

The Clicks keyboard for the iPhone 14 Pro was the first to hit the market, having commenced shipping in February, shortly after the accessory’s initial unveiling in early January, just ahead of the annual CES tech conference.

Clicks is a unique product that seamlessly combines a physical keyboard with a protective case for the iPhone. The keyboard connects directly to the device’s USB-C or Lightning port, offering a familiar typing experience reminiscent of the beloved BlackBerry devices of yesteryear. However, Clicks isn’t merely a nostalgic throwback; it boasts an array of modern features, including dedicated keys for emoji and dictation, backlit keys for low-light conditions, and a pass-through charging port that allows for convenient charging without the need to remove the keyboard.

One of the key advantages of using a physical keyboard with an iPhone is the ability to enjoy a full-screen experience, as the on-screen keyboard is no longer required. Additionally, Clicks offers a range of keyboard shortcuts, such as CMD-H to quickly return to the Home Screen and CMD-Space to summon Spotlight search.

Of course, as with any accessory, there are trade-offs to consider. The added size and weight of the Clicks keyboard may be a deterrent for some users accustomed to the sleek and thin design of the iPhone. However, for a niche market of physical keyboard enthusiasts, the compromises in portability are a small price to pay for the familiar and efficient typing experience that Clicks provides.

Clicks were co-founded by two well-known tech personalities, “MrMobile” and “CrackBerry Kevin,” both of whom have built reputations for their expertise and passion for mobile technology. The keyboard case is available in two color options, London Sky and BumbleBee, and features a silicone front and vegan leather back for a premium look and feel.

Priced at $139 in the United States, the Clicks keyboard is currently sold out, with the company accepting reservations for future availability. As the product rolls out to more iPhone models in the coming weeks, it will be interesting to see if this unique accessory can capture the hearts and fingers of a new generation of mobile typists.
