Amazon’s “October Prime Day” is back, and it’s happening sooner than you might think. Dubbed Prime Big Deal Days, the 48-hour sales extravaganza kicks off on Tuesday, October 8 and runs through Wednesday, October 9, exclusively for members of Amazon’s Prime subscription service. It’s the fall version of Amazon’s flagship Prime Day, a special treat for early holiday shoppers looking to snag deals well before Black Friday chaos hits.

  • Amazon Prime Big Deal Days returns in October 2024

This will be the third year Amazon has hosted a fall Prime event. If you’re wondering about the name, well, it’s evolved a bit. In 2022, it was called the Prime Early Access Sale, but in 2023 it became Prime Big Deal Days, a title Amazon seems to be sticking with this year.

As always, Amazon won’t be the only retailer trying to tempt your wallet. Expect the likes of Best Buy, Target, and Walmart to roll out their own sales around the same time, making it a busy week for bargain hunters.

If you’re not already a Prime member and you’re wary of signing up, don’t sweat it. You can still get in on the action by taking advantage of Amazon’s free 30-day trial of Prime. Just make sure to cancel before the trial period ends, or you’ll be automatically billed for the subscription.

If you decide to stick with it, Prime membership costs $14.99 per month, or you can pay $139 annually and save a little in the long run. Prime gives you free delivery on over 300 million items, exclusive deals, and early access to lightning deals.

Amazon also offers a 50% discount on Prime for young adults (18-24) and college students, who can try Prime free for six months and then pay only $7.49 per month (or $69 per year). Similarly, if you qualify for government assistance, you can try Prime Access for 30 days free and then pay just $6.99 per month.

Amazon promises that Prime members will see a new deal every five minutes during the sale, making it hard to resist checking back frequently. To help you out, they’ve even prepared a holiday gift guide, giving you ideas on what to snag for your loved ones—or yourself.

Oh, and if you like a little AI help, Amazon’s shopping assistant Rufus is fully up and running for U.S.-based customers. So, if you need a hand navigating the sea of deals, Rufus has got you covered.

So mark your calendars! Prime Big Deal Days are just around the corner, and the holiday shopping madness is about to begin.
