It looks like we’ve finally gotten a sneak peek at Apple‘s upcoming budget-friendly iPhone SE, and it’s not quite what some of us were expecting. Over the weekend, leaks from reputable sources have given us our clearest view yet of the iPhone SE 4, which appears in both video and static images. The visuals in question, shared by the well-known leaker Majin Bu, depict what might be either a real device or a very convincing dummy unit, showcasing the phone in broad daylight.
Contrary to earlier rumors that suggested Apple might introduce the Dynamic Island feature to the SE lineup, the new leaks reveal the iPhone SE 4 still sporting the traditional notch seen on older iPhone models. The video, albeit brief, clearly shows the phone’s front, with the notch housing what seems to be the front-facing camera, placed slightly to the left, echoing the design of the iPhone 14. Majin Bu confirmed in follow-up posts that there is indeed a notch, dispelling any speculation about a Dynamic Island.

On the back, the design remains faithful to the SE heritage with a solitary camera lens, but with a notable upgrade: this iteration of the SE features a USB-C port, aligning with new EU regulations that mandate USB-C ports for all smartphones. This change marks a significant departure from the Lightning port used in previous SE models, which is no longer permissible for sale in the European market.

The leaks also confirm that the iPhone SE 4 will likely adopt an OLED display, a substantial upgrade from the LCD screens of its predecessors. This shift to OLED is expected to provide users with richer colors, better contrast, and overall improved screen quality. Moreover, the device is rumored to come equipped with sufficient RAM to support Apple’s AI-driven features, known as Apple Intelligence, which could enhance everything from photo editing to personal assistance through Siri.
Speculation around the launch date leans towards a March or April 2025 release, which would fit Apple’s pattern of introducing new SE models. For context, the iPhone SE (3rd generation) was launched in March 2022, suggesting that Apple might stick to a similar timeline for this new model.
These leaks are not entirely new. About two weeks prior, another leaker, Sonny Dickson, had already shared photos of what were claimed to be iPhone SE 4 dummy units, which he subsequently offered for sale. This earlier leak corroborates the design elements we see in Majin Bu’s recent posts, adding credibility to the anticipation surrounding the SE 4.
As we inch closer to the expected launch, the interest in this budget iPhone model grows, particularly for those seeking flagship features without the flagship price. The inclusion of a USB-C port, an OLED screen, and the retention of the notch instead of the newer Dynamic Island will certainly be points of discussion among Apple enthusiasts and potential buyers alike.
Whether the iPhone SE 4 will shake up Apple’s budget phone segment with these updates remains to be seen, but if these leaks are anything to go by, Apple might just have another hit on its hands, continuing the legacy of the SE line as a compelling choice for those looking to save without compromising too much on quality.
