Apple announced a new iPhone SE 3 at its first event of 2022 on Tuesday at its ‘Peek performance’ event. The new iPhone SE 3 has a similar design to the iPhone SE 2020, but it has an A15 Bionic Chip, 5G connectivity, and a mostly higher price tag of $429 (₹43,900 in India).

The new iPhone SE 3 is the successor to the iPhone SE 2020, and it features the same A15 Bionic technology found in the iPhone 13 series. The A15 chip has better processing performance, according to Apple, with a CPU that is 1.8x faster and a GPU that is 2.2x faster than the iPhone 8.

Because not every component of the new phone will make use of all of that capability, such performance means that future versions of iOS will be supported for years to come.

The iPhone SE 3 has a single 12-megapixel camera on the back and a 7-megapixel camera on the front. Smart HDR 4, Photographic Styles, and Deep Fusion are just a few of the innovative capabilities that the A15 chip adds to the cameras.

Despite the addition of 5G connectivity (which can deplete a phone’s battery), Apple claims that the iPhone SE 3 has longer battery life. Some of these enhancements could be attributed to the A15 chip and iOS 15.

The iPhone SE 3 will be available in three colors: Midnight (black), Starlight (white), and (PRODUCT)RED, with a storage capacity of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB and will go on sale March 18, 2022, with pre-orders starting March 11, 2022.

The first iPhone SE, which priced $399 and paired the body of an iPhone 5S with the internals of an iPhone 6s, was released in 2016. It was an unexpected hit for Apple, appealing to those looking for a compact, affordable iPhone.

In 2020, Apple introduced a redesigned iPhone SE featuring an iPhone 8 chassis and the A13 chip from the iPhone 11. The phone revealed how much of an iPhone’s capability is derived only from its processor. Until today, the iPhone SE 2020 was the only iPhone with the classic iPhone design of a broad forehead, chin, and home button that Apple sold.
