Amazon has dropped the price of the Ring Indoor Cam Plus to just $29.99, giving shoppers a chance to pick up Ring’s newer 2K indoor security camera for half its usual $59.99 list price.

That makes this a particularly notable discount because the camera isn’t simply an older model being cleared out. The Indoor Cam Plus is the current-generation model, with Ring positioning it as its enhanced indoor camera with Retinal 2K video, improved low-light performance, and up to 4x Enhanced Zoom.

Amazon is currently showing the camera at $29.99, down from $59.99, representing a 50% discount. The Amazon Alexa for Shopping price-history panel shown on the product page also indicates that $29.99 is the lowest price over the past 30 days, with the camera moving between $29.99 and $59.99 during that period.

That makes the current price more interesting than the headline 50% discount alone suggests. The $59.99 price is the camera’s regular list price, but the recent pricing history shows that the Indoor Cam Plus has already been discounted at various points. Still, $29.99 is currently at the bottom of that recent range.

What you get for $30

The Indoor Cam Plus is a plug-in indoor security camera built around a 2K-resolution sensor. Ring says its Retinal 2K system captures video at up to 2560 × 1440 resolution, while 4x Enhanced Zoom is designed to preserve more detail when viewing objects farther away.

It also includes Low-Light Sight, which can maintain color video when there is some ambient light before switching to black-and-white video in complete darkness. Motion detection can send alerts to your phone, while Live View and two-way talk let you see and communicate with people in the room remotely.

There is also a removable physical lens cover, which is a useful privacy feature for an indoor camera. Ring notes that covering the lens does not automatically disable the microphone, although the microphone can be disabled through the Ring app.

The camera works with the Ring ecosystem as well, allowing compatible Ring devices to respond to activity detected by the camera, although some of the more advanced recording and intelligent-alert features require a separate Ring Protect subscription.

Is $29.99 a good price?

At $29.99, the Indoor Cam Plus is much easier to justify than it is at $59.99. You’re getting a current-generation Ring indoor camera with 2K video, enhanced zoom, low-light color video, two-way talk, motion alerts and a physical privacy cover for roughly $30.

It’s also worth noting that Ring itself is currently listing the Indoor Cam 2K at $29.99, down from $59.99, so this isn’t necessarily an Amazon-exclusive price.

That does take some of the “rare” aspect out of the deal, but it doesn’t change the value of the current price. If you’re already using Ring products, the ecosystem integration makes the camera particularly straightforward to add to an existing setup.

The bigger consideration is Ring Protect. Basic live viewing and other core camera functions don’t necessarily require paying for a subscription, but features such as saved video history and certain intelligent alerts are tied to Ring Protect.

So, if you simply want an inexpensive indoor camera for checking in on a room, keeping an eye on pets, or getting motion alerts, $29.99 is a notably lower entry price than the camera’s $59.99 list price. If you want cloud recording and Ring’s more advanced security features, you’ll also need to factor the subscription into the long-term cost.
