Amazon is making a bigger push into workplace AI with Amazon Quick, bringing its agentic assistant to Windows and macOS while giving its iOS and Android apps a new activity feed designed to keep work moving across devices.

The desktop app is now generally available after launching in preview earlier this year. At the same time, the mobile apps gain a unified view of email, calendar events, messaging and CRM updates, giving Quick a more connected role in the workday.

Amazon Quick comes to Windows and macOS

The new desktop experience is designed to make Quick more than a chatbot sitting in a browser tab. The application can work with files stored on a user’s computer, connect to services such as email and calendars, and maintain context about ongoing projects and workflows.

Users can grant Quick access to specific folders, allowing it to read, write, search and index local files. The desktop application can also work with browser automation, local code execution, MCP servers and coding agents configured on the user’s machine.

That gives Quick a much broader view of a user’s work. Instead of answering a question using only the information included in a prompt, it can combine information from local files and connected business applications to perform tasks and produce finished work.

Amazon says Quick can create documents, presentations, spreadsheets, dashboards and other deliverables directly from conversations. It can also conduct research using business data, public web information and third-party datasets.

The same work can follow you to your phone

Amazon is also updating Quick on iOS and Android with a new Activity Feed.

The feed brings together important updates from email, calendars, CRM systems and messaging services into a prioritized view. Rather than forcing employees to jump between multiple applications, Quick surfaces the items that need attention and allows its agents to handle routine work in the background.

The desktop and mobile experiences are connected, too. Amazon says users can start work on a computer and continue it from their phone, while agents can keep working even after a laptop is closed. That means a task doesn’t necessarily have to wait for the user to return to their desk.

Quick’s agents can, for example, prepare meeting materials, summarize changes in workplace channels, generate reports and deliver results through the Activity Feed.

Amazon is positioning Quick around enterprise control

The broader pitch behind Quick is as much about governance as productivity.

Amazon says Quick runs on AWS infrastructure, with customer data remaining within the customer’s environment and conversations kept private. Organizations can also use AWS CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail for auditing, while Amazon highlights support for compliance standards including HIPAA, FedRAMP, SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

That’s an important distinction as companies increasingly experiment with AI assistants that can access internal documents, communications and business systems. Amazon is effectively positioning Quick as a way to give employees powerful AI capabilities without losing the controls expected from enterprise software.

Quick can also connect to thousands of applications and data sources, allowing organizations to keep their existing software rather than moving into a new Amazon-specific productivity ecosystem.

Amazon Quick is entering a crowded AI workplace

Amazon’s approach puts Quick in direct competition with workplace AI products from Microsoft, Google and a growing collection of AI companies.

Microsoft has Copilot deeply integrated into Microsoft 365, while Google is building Gemini into Google Workspace. Amazon doesn’t have an equivalent productivity suite dominating the enterprise, so Quick instead takes an integration-first approach, connecting to the systems businesses already use.

That could make the strategy particularly interesting for organizations with a mixture of Microsoft, Google and third-party services rather than a single standardized software ecosystem.

Amazon says companies including 3M, Mondelēz and Southwest Airlines used the desktop application during its preview period.

With the desktop app now generally available and the mobile experience becoming more tightly connected, Amazon Quick is evolving from an AI assistant that answers workplace questions into something closer to an always-available digital coworker—one that can keep working across devices and systems even when the employee steps away.
