Sneaky Sasquatch is taking a detour from its familiar campground and racing straight into Subway Surfers+. Starting today, Apple Arcade players can find the lovable troublemaker at the center of a limited-time crossover that remixes the endless runner with the look, humor, and collectibles of Sasquatch Valley.

It is a fun match on paper, but it also feels like a smart way to build momentum for what is next. The crossover arrives ahead of a sizeable Sneaky Sasquatch update due September 17, when birdwatching will become the game’s latest full-fledged pastime.

For the next several weeks, Subway Surfers+ will look noticeably different. Its usually familiar tracks are being reworked around locations inspired by Sneaky Sasquatch’s world, while four Sasquatch-themed character skins and two unique hoverboards will be available to unlock. Gold coins are being swapped for raccoon coins, and even the security guard is getting in on the act, replacing his usual uniform with a park-ranger disguise. The event runs through October 7.

That last detail says a lot about why the crossover works. Subway Surfers has always been about quick reactions and colorful, high-speed escapes, while Sneaky Sasquatch has built its identity around playfulness, strange jobs, and the kind of low-stakes mischief that turns a simple errand into a surprisingly long adventure. Putting the Sasquatch aesthetic into an endless runner does not require a complicated explanation – run from the ranger, collect shiny things, and try not to get caught.

Apple is positioning the event as more than a one-off novelty. Alex Rofman, Apple’s senior director of Apple Arcade, called Sneaky Sasquatch one of the service’s most beloved games and said it has maintained a particularly passionate player community since its earliest days on Arcade. He also said more updates are planned in the months ahead.

The bigger addition lands on September 17. Sneaky Sasquatch will add more than 30 bird species across its open world, giving players another reason to slow down and explore rather than simply chase the next task, race, or prank. Players will be able to photograph birds and submit those images to an in-game birder, who logs them into a bird database and hands out rewards.

It is not just a collectible checklist, either. Apple says each picture will be graded on its composition and subject, with extra rewards possible for rare birds, new discoveries, and shots that capture multiple birds at once. That approach sounds fitting for Sneaky Sasquatch, a game that has long been at its best when it turns an ordinary activity into something slightly more elaborate and oddly absorbing.

Over the years, players have been able to ski, race customized cars, work as a doctor, pursue odd jobs, and generally wander into unexpected side activities. Birdwatching continues that pattern. Rather than dramatically reshaping the game’s core, it expands the world with another system that rewards curiosity – and gives regular players a new reason to revisit places they may have long since memorized.

There is also a small anniversary extra for fans who want to take the Sasquatch outside the game. Apple has added 11 new Sneaky Sasquatch stickers for Messages, joining the existing sticker pack with celebratory designs tied to the game’s birthday.

For Apple Arcade, the crossover is a useful reminder of what the subscription service can do when its catalog gets treated less like a static library and more like an active platform. The service includes more than 200 games, and a single subscription can be shared with up to six family members. Apple Arcade costs $6.99 per month in the U.S. following a one-month trial, while buyers of eligible new Apple devices can receive three months free.

The timing is especially good for anyone who has let Sneaky Sasquatch sit untouched on their home screen for a while. Subway Surfers+ offers an easy, limited-time excuse to jump back in now, while the birdwatching update looks like the more meaningful reason to stick around through the fall. For a game built around doing just about anything a giant, mischievous Sasquatch might get away with, patiently lining up the perfect photo of a rare bird somehow feels entirely on-brand.
