In today’s digital age, virtual meetings have become the norm, and with that comes the need for some visual pizzazz. Microsoft and Snap have teamed up to address this need by integrating Snapchat Lenses into Microsoft Teams. Users can now choose from a library of 26 popular Lenses to add some fun and creativity to their video calls. From turning yourself into a cartoon character to adding virtual snow and backgrounds, the options are endless.

While the addition of Lenses to Teams can bring some much-needed levity to work meetings, it’s important to remember to use them appropriately. As the saying goes, there is a time and a place for everything. So, while it may be tempting to try on a Lens during a more serious discussion, it’s probably best to avoid doing so.

To access the Lenses in Teams, users can select the Video Effects option and then choose Snapchat. The library of Lenses will rotate to keep things fresh, and they should be available to all users in the coming days.

Microsoft and Snap’s collaboration on the integration of Lenses into Teams isn’t their first partnership. Microsoft previously used Snap’s Camera Kit to add AR features to its video learning platform, Flip. The integration of Snap’s AR tech resulted in a 60 percent increase in video posts to the platform by teachers and students.

Snap also had its own desktop app, Snap Camera, which allowed users to apply Lenses to third-party video calling services. However, the company shut down the app earlier this year (but you can continue using Lenses on your computer with Snapchat for Web), making the integration with Teams even more valuable.

How to Use Snapchat Lenses on Microsoft Teams Video Calls

Before your next meeting:

  1. Click “Video Effects”
  2. Then “More Video Effects”
  3. Scroll down in the right pane and select “Snapchat” under the “Filters” category
  4. Scroll down to view all and select your favorite Lens
  5. Click “Join now”

  1. Click “More…” at the top of your meeting screen
  2. Click “Video Effects”
  3. Scroll down in the right pane and select “Snapchat” under the “Filters” category
  4. Scroll down to view all and select your favorite Lens
  5. Click “Preview” to see your selected Lens without others viewing yet or “Apply” to turn on your favorite Lens
