Samsung today unveiled its latest generation of foldable smartphones at the Unpacked event. The star attractions of the show are undoubtedly the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5, promising to revolutionize the smartphone experience once again. Alongside these groundbreaking devices, Samsung also introduced new smartwatches and tablets, but the spotlight firmly remains on the foldable.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold5 emerges as the epitome of foldable smartphones, sporting an enticing starting price of $1,799.99. This remarkable device boasts an outer 6.2-inch screen that unfolds into a spacious 7.6-inch display on the inside, offering a seamless transition between phone and tablet modes. While some may note similarities to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold4, Samsung has made significant improvements, especially with the hinge design. The new hinge enables the phone to close flat with a minimal air gap, delivering a smoother and more refined user experience.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5

Priced at $999.99, the Galaxy Z Flip5 stands out as the perfect blend of style and functionality. This unique foldable phone features a 6.7-inch inner folding screen and a much larger 3.4-inch front cover display. The showstopper on the Flip 5 is its outer display, which is almost four times larger than its predecessor. With its new square-ish 3.4-inch 60Hz cover screen, the Z Flip5 offers more real estate for apps, making them larger and more interactive for users.

Pre-order details and exclusive freebies: where to get your hands on these gems

Both the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 are set to make their grand debut on August 11th, and fans are eager to secure their foldable future. Here’s where you can place your pre-orders and avail of some fantastic freebies:

The Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 are already available for pre-order at $999.99 and $1,799.99 respectively on the Samsung website, and both phones come with a complimentary storage upgrade valued at $120, effectively granting you 512GB of storage ($150 with Fold5 1TB). Other retailers like Amazon and Best Buy are offering gift cards worth $150 ($200 with Fold5) and $120, respectively, making the deal even sweeter.

Carrier offers and deals

For those considering carrier deals, major US carriers are also enticing customers with their own promotions. However, it’s essential to keep in mind that carrier discounts are usually provided as monthly bill credits over an extended period (usually 24 or 36 months). Here’s what carriers have to offer:

  1. AT&T — New and existing customers can enjoy a free Galaxy Z Flip5 or $1,000 off the Galaxy Z Fold5 with a trade-in of any Galaxy phone.
  2. Verizon — Activation of a new line on an Unlimited Plus plan allows customers to snag a free Z Flip5 or $1,000 off a Z Fold5 with a trade-in of select devices. Existing customers on a qualified 5G Unlimited plan can also avail of these offers with a trade-in.
  3. T-Mobile — Add a line or make a qualifying trade-in on Go5G Plus or Magenta Max plans to receive the Z Flip5 for free or the Z Fold5 with a $1,000 discount.
