Imagine a world before Instagram models and endless scrolling. A social media platform where people just…posted stuff about their lives. That’s the vibe of noplace, a new app taking Gen Z by storm. It’s basically Myspace 2.0, complete with super customizable profiles and (wait for it) embedded song clips!
The app’s founder, Tiffany Zhong, never even used Myspace herself (she was way too young back then). But noplace captures that early 2000s feel with features like a “top friends” list (remember those?) and profiles that let you unleash your inner graphic designer with wild colors and backgrounds.

noplace isn’t just a nostalgia trip, though. It throws some modern twists into the mix. There’s a point system where you level up by using the app, kind of like a game. Plus, there’s a giant feed where you can blast out updates to everyone, just like Twitter (now X).

People are already using noplace in unexpected ways. Turns out, Gen Z loves asking questions on social media, kind of like how they use TikTok and YouTube to search for stuff. The app is even thinking about adding features to make it easier to ask questions and get answers from other users – basically, a social search engine!
noplace has some big names behind it too, including the founder of Reddit. And let’s not forget that Zhong herself was kind of a social media wiz kid even before noplace.
But noplace is about more than just reliving the past. Zhong says it’s a fight for authenticity. No more chasing follower counts or trying to be someone you’re not. noplace is about being yourself and connecting with people who actually care.
