Lenovo is widening the on-ramp to PC gaming with a new range of LOQ Essential laptops, the upgrade-friendly LOQ Tower 17IRH11 desktop, and two high-refresh Legion gaming monitors. The announcement is aimed squarely at first-time PC gamers and students who want a machine that can handle schoolwork, creative apps, and games without immediately jumping to premium Legion pricing.
The split is fairly straightforward. LOQ remains Lenovo’s more approachable gaming brand, while Legion is still the enthusiast-facing range for people chasing higher-end specs and competitive performance. With these launches, Lenovo is trying to make that first step into gaming hardware feel less intimidating – whether that means buying a laptop, moving to a proper desktop setup, or finally replacing an older 60Hz display.
Two routes into LOQ
The more unusual of the two new laptops is the Lenovo LOQ Essential 15IPH11. Instead of pairing its Intel processor with a separate graphics chip, it uses Intel Core Ultra Series 3 hardware with integrated Intel Arc graphics and a shared, or unified, memory design. The system can dynamically direct its available memory toward graphics, games, streaming, or everyday apps depending on what is happening at the time.


That matters because entry-level gaming laptops have historically involved a series of awkward compromises: a low-end dedicated GPU, limited graphics memory, extra heat, louder fans, and battery life that falls off a cliff once the charger comes out. Lenovo is betting that newer integrated Arc graphics, paired with Intel XeSS upscaling, ray tracing support, and the processor’s NPU for supported AI workloads, can be a more flexible option for people who want a single machine for class, casual gaming, and content work.
Lenovo says the 15IPH11 can reach up to 21 hours of battery life in its tested conditions, although real-world results will naturally depend heavily on the game, display brightness, and power settings. It also gets a 15.3-inch 16:10 screen with up to a 165Hz refresh rate and 100% sRGB coverage, plus Thunderbolt 4, USB-C charging support, and user-accessible memory and SSD slots.
The second model, the LOQ Essential 15IRH11, takes the more familiar budget gaming-laptop route. It combines Intel Core 200-series processors with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU, offering dedicated graphics for buyers who would rather have a conventional setup for games and GPU-accelerated creative work.

On paper, it carries much of the same practical appeal: a 15.3-inch 16:10 display with options reaching 165Hz, 100% sRGB color coverage, upgradeable memory and storage, and a chassis Lenovo says is 10% slimmer and lighter than the previous model. The styling sounds restrained enough for a classroom or office, though Lenovo has added transparent purple accent keys so it does not entirely forget what kind of laptop it is.
There is an interesting pricing wrinkle here. Lenovo lists the integrated-graphics 15IPH11 at a starting price of $1,399, while the RTX 3050-equipped 15IRH11 starts at $979.99. That makes the naming alone a poor guide to value: prospective buyers will need to look closely at the actual processor, memory, display, and GPU configuration before assuming one is automatically the better gaming purchase. Both are expected to arrive in the U.S. in October 2026.
A desktop built to grow
The LOQ Tower 17IRH11 is Lenovo’s answer for someone who wants the advantages of a desktop gaming PC without researching every component, choosing a case, and building it themselves. It uses Intel Core 200-series processors and can be configured with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti desktop GPU, which puts it in a considerably more capable graphics class than either of the new LOQ Essential laptops.


More importantly, Lenovo appears to understand what desktop buyers actually want from an affordable prebuilt: a path to upgrade later. The 17-liter tower supports up to 32GB of DDR5 memory, PCIe Gen4 SSD storage, additional internal expansion, Wi-Fi 7 on supported configurations, and what Lenovo calls Easy Upgrade Access for tool-less component work.
That could make the LOQ Tower more appealing than a laptop for a gamer whose needs are likely to expand over the next few years. A desktop will not travel to class, obviously, but it is easier to add storage when game libraries grow, replace components when performance starts to feel dated, and pair with a larger monitor without turning a compact notebook into a desk-bound machine. Lenovo has not announced U.S. pricing or availability for the tower, saying both will vary by region.
The monitors may steal attention
Lenovo is also giving buyers two very different reasons to consider a Legion display. The Legion 27Q-20 is the simpler proposition: a 27-inch QHD, or 2560 x 1440, Fast IPS monitor running at up to 320Hz. It is designed for players who prioritize motion clarity and response time in fast shooters, racing games, and esports titles.

The screen supports a 1ms gray-to-gray response time and 0.5ms MPRT rating, alongside AMD FreeSync Premium, VESA Adaptive Sync, and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible support. Lenovo is also including a Focus View mode that creates a 24.5-inch active competitive viewport with darkened side areas, reflecting the smaller screen format many tournament players are accustomed to.
The Legion 27U-20 is the more versatile model, and arguably the more interesting one. It is a 27-inch Dual Mode monitor that can run at 4K resolution and 180Hz for single-player games and visually detailed worlds, then switch to 1080p at 360Hz when raw speed matters more than resolution.
That tradeoff is genuinely useful. A game like a cinematic action adventure benefits from 4K detail, while a fast competitive shooter can feel more responsive when the display and PC are focused on delivering as many frames as possible. Rather than forcing buyers to choose between a high-resolution monitor and an esports-focused display, Lenovo is trying to put both modes into one panel.
Both Legion monitors offer 99% sRGB and 95% DCI-P3 coverage, factory-calibrated Delta E below 2, 400-nit brightness, VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification, and 1.07 billion-color support. The 27U-20 goes further with Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture modes plus an integrated USB hub, while both include HDMI 2.1 FRL and DisplayPort 1.4 connections, adjustable stands, and low-blue-light and Eyesafe 2.0 certifications.
The Legion 27Q-20 is expected to start at $299.99 in January 2027, while the Dual Mode Legion 27U-20 is expected to begin at $499.99. For gamers building a first desktop setup around the LOQ Tower, those prices make the monitor decision just as important as the PC itself: the 27Q-20 looks like the straightforward value play, while the 27U-20 is the premium pick for people who refuse to choose one style of gaming.
