Get ready, gamers, because Microsoft is about to unleash something special: the Xbox Mastercard. Set to launch later this month, this exclusive credit card is a game-changer, tailor-made for Xbox testers in the United States. And guess what? It’s going to make your gaming experience even more thrilling!

Earn Rewards While You Shop

Imagine earning points for every dollar you spend on your daily purchases, and then using those points to get your hands on the latest Xbox games and add-ons. That’s precisely what the Xbox Mastercard promises. Dave McCarthy, Chief Vice President of Xbox Player Services, explains that this credit card is designed to make every purchase count, letting you accumulate points that can be redeemed for a wide range of Xbox goodies through xbox.com. Also, these points are in addition to the ones you earn through Microsoft Rewards, giving you a double dose of rewards for your loyalty (but it isn’t linked to Microsoft Rewards).

The math is simple: every dollar you spend with the Xbox Mastercard earns you one card point. Collect 1,500 of these points, and you can claim a $15 gift card that’s like a golden ticket to the Xbox online store. It’s a genius way to treat yourself to the games and add-ons you’ve been eyeing.

More Than Just Gaming

The Xbox Mastercard doesn’t just stop at gaming rewards. It goes above and beyond. Cardholders will score big with five points for every dollar spent at the online Microsoft Store. But that’s not all — three points for every dollar spent on streaming services like Netflix and Disney Plus, as well as three points for every dollar spent on food delivery services like Grubhub and DoorDash, are all part of the package. It’s like getting rewarded for your entertainment choices and food deliveries, on top of gaming!

Financial Aspects to Consider

While the rewards sound exciting, it’s essential to know the financial side of things. The Annual Percentage Rates (APR) for this card range from 20.99 percent to 31.99 percent, depending on your creditworthiness. To make informed decisions, take some time to read through the full terms and conditions.

Exclusive Launch Bonuses

Early birds get the best treats. For those who dive into the Xbox Mastercard right away, Microsoft is offering some incredible launch bonuses. How about a whopping 5,000 points (equivalent to $50) as a bonus after your first purchase? It’s like getting a head start on your gaming adventures! And if you’re new to Xbox Game Pass, you’ll also enjoy three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Already a Game Pass member? You can share these three months with friends or family. It’s all about spreading the gaming love.

Personalize Your Card

Gamers love to showcase their individuality, and Microsoft gets that. The Xbox Mastercard offers a choice of five unique card designs (above featured image). Plus, you can add your gamertag to personalize it further. This is your chance to make a statement and flaunt your gaming identity.

When and How to Get It

For those of you eager to get your hands on this epic card, the wait is almost over. Starting from September 21st, Xbox Insiders in the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii can apply for the Xbox Mastercard. Microsoft plans to roll it out to Xbox Insiders in waves throughout the fall, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for applicants.

A Blast from the Past

This isn’t Microsoft’s first venture into gaming credit cards. More than a decade ago, in 2005, they introduced the Xbox Live Diamond loyalty card, offering discounts at participating retailers. With the Xbox Mastercard, Microsoft is making a triumphant return to the world of gaming credit cards, reaffirming its commitment to the gaming community.

Competition in the Gaming Credit Card Arena

Microsoft isn’t alone in recognizing the potential of gaming-related credit cards. Sony, a formidable competitor, has its own PlayStation credit card, offering a points-based system for redeeming rewards across a wide range of products. It’s clear that gaming giants are exploring innovative ways to engage and reward their dedicated fan bases.

The Xbox Mastercard is a game-changer, quite literally. It’s Microsoft’s way of saying “thank you” to the gaming community that has supported them for so long. With its unique rewards system, personalized card designs, and a range of enticing benefits, this credit card is set to redefine the gaming experience for players across the United States.
