Both of these models were announced during Apple’s WWDC 2022 keynote in which the 2022 M2 MacBook Air gets redesigned while the 13.6-inch MacBook Pro only got chip upgrades thanks to M2. Read our WWDC 2022 recap article HERE.

The 2022 MacBook Air comes with Apple’s M2 chip to deliver incredible performance and up to 18 hours of battery life inside its strikingly thin aluminum enclosure. Design-wise, the MacBook Air is a portable laptop that can do almost anything—work, play, or create—anywhere. It weighs just 2.7 pounds.

With its 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, which boasts over 500 nits of brightness, P3 wide color, and support for one billion colors, the laptop can produce images with stunning detail.

The new MacBook Air features Spatial Audio, a four-speaker sound system, a three-mic array, and a 1080p FaceTime HD camera. I/O-wise, the MacBook Air has a headphone jack, two Thunderbolt ports, and a MagSafe charging port.

The updated 13-inch MacBook Pro is powered by a newly launched Apple M2 chip which is a next-generation Apple Silicon that features top-notch performance, supports up to 24GB of unified memory, and up to 20 hours of battery life while remaining the same body factor as the previous 13-inch model.

Apple claims that playing graphics-intensive games like Baldur’s Gate 3 is approximately 40% faster than on the previous 13-inch MacBook Pro, and up to 3.3x faster for customers switching from a non-Apple model.

Users can play back up to 11 streams of 4K and two streams of 8K ProRes video with support for ProRes encoding and decoding in the M2 media engine, and they can convert their video projects to ProRes roughly three times faster than previously, according to Apple.

On a single charge, the 13-inch MacBook Pro can play video for up to 20 hours. The 13-inch MacBook Pro also supports up to 24GB of unified memory and 50 percent more memory bandwidth thanks to the M2 chip.
