LG has an exciting announcement for owners of recent OLED TV models — a major software upgrade is coming in 2024 that will introduce customization options and enhanced security features.

According to LG, the upgrade will roll out to all of its 2022 OLED lineup, as well as the unique OLED Flex, OLED Objet Collection Posé, and 8K QNED Mini LED models. In total, millions of customers stand to benefit.

The headlining feature is the revamped user interface called “Quick Card UI”. Inspired by smartphone interfaces, it consists of individual cards that users can curate to see personalized content front and center.

There’s a main banner at the top, followed by tabs for broad categories like Entertainment, Lifestyle, Sports, etc. But most interesting is the ability to cherry-pick specific streaming and app services to feature, building a TV screen that truly reflects one’s interests. Music apps, games, podcasts and more can be included.

Multiple rows of curated recommendations will sit below, with LG’s algorithms suggesting new movies, TV shows and online videos that may match the user’s tastes based on their app and viewing selections.

Beyond the customization options, LG says enhanced security technology will be introduced to help guard against malware and bad actors – protecting user privacy and data. Details remain vague surrounding the specifics at this point.

So when does this exciting upgrade start rolling out? LG is targeting launch in early 2024, so only weeks away once we flip the calendars. It stems from their new “Re:New” webOS update program focused on constantly revising the software experience yearly.

And the OLED TV upgrades represent only a slice of what LG has in store for 2024 and beyond. At January’s CES 2024, they unveiled their wireless flagship OLED model called the LG M3 on the TV front, featuring integration with their novel Dukebox entertainment unit as well.

For LG OLED TV owners patiently waiting for the latest and greatest features, your patience is about to pay off — with a major personalized upgrade set to enhance functionality, customization and security over your coming years of use.
