LG Electronics has unveiled a product that might just redefine the concept of indoor gardening. At CES 2025, set to take place in January, LG is introducing a lamp that does more than illuminate your living space—it cultivates your own mini garden right under its glow.

This isn’t your average standing lamp. Slender and upright with a circular “lampshade” and base, LG’s new appliance is both an elegant piece of home decor and a highly practical device for home gardeners. The lamp features two distinct lighting modes: one for growth and another for ambiance. During the day, the light is directed downward, offering up to five intensity levels to cater to the needs of various plants, ensuring they receive the optimal amount of light for photosynthesis. Come evening, the lamp switches to an upward-facing mode, providing mood lighting that enhances the atmosphere of any room.

Underneath this lamp, you can nurture up to 20 plants at once. The system is designed for both beginners and those with a green thumb, aiming to simplify the process of growing fresh produce indoors. It’s especially appealing for urban dwellers or anyone without access to an outdoor space. The lamp’s adaptability is further highlighted by its height-adjustable LED growing lights, which allow for the cultivation of a variety of plants, from small herbs to taller leafy greens.

What makes this lamp even more intriguing is its integration with LG’s ThinQ app. This compatibility means you can manage your indoor garden remotely or schedule light settings to match the specific growth phases of your plants. The appliance comes with a 1.5-gallon water tank, which is a significant upgrade from the company’s previous models. This larger tank reduces the frequency of refills, making the gardening experience more seamless and less labor-intensive. The system automatically dispenses water and nutrients, tailored to the needs of the plants, ensuring they receive just the right amount to thrive.

Alongside the standing lamp, LG is also showcasing a side table-style grow light. This model is compact, fitting well in smaller spaces or as part of a lounge area, yet it retains the same functionality of growing plants beneath its light. It’s another nod to LG’s commitment to providing stylish, space-efficient solutions that cater to various living environments and lifestyles.

LG’s foray into indoor gardening appliances isn’t just about convenience or aesthetics; it’s part of a broader trend toward sustainable living. By integrating technology with horticulture, LG is tapping into the growing consumer interest in health, sustainability, and self-sufficiency. This appliance allows anyone to enjoy the benefits of gardening without the need for outdoor space, promoting a lifestyle that could reduce dependency on store-bought produce, potentially decreasing one’s carbon footprint.

While LG hasn’t disclosed the exact pricing or release date, the anticipation at CES 2025 suggests a strong market interest. This product could be a game-changer for urban planners, suggesting new ways to bring natural elements into city living. For consumers, it represents not just an appliance but a lifestyle choice where technology serves to bring nature closer, making gardening an accessible and enjoyable part of daily life.

Stay tuned to CES 2025 for more updates on this and other innovations that could transform our homes into smarter, greener spaces.
