Google‘s AI-powered Search experience, known as SGE, is now reaching over 120 new countries, accompanied by support for four additional languages. This expansion marks SGE’s debut in various locations, including Latin America, Bangladesh, Bhutan, South Korea, Indonesia, Colombia, and Sub-Saharan Africa, following its earlier introduction in the U.S. and subsequent expansion into India and Japan.
To engage with SGE in these new regions, users are required to sign up for Google’s Search Labs program and use Chrome on desktop or the Google app on mobile. While currently available on Chrome desktop, SGE will soon be accessible on the Google app in the coming week for users in the newly added countries.
Notably, SGE now supports four more languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, and Indonesian, enabling users to interact with the AI-powered search assistant in their native languages. This language support is currently available on Chrome desktop and will soon be rolled out to the Search Labs app for Android over the next week.
Google has also introduced some exciting upgrades to SGE, enhancing its functionality. One notable addition is an improved follow-up function, allowing users to ask more questions directly on the search results page without the need to navigate away or type multiple queries. This feature is set to roll out in the coming weeks, initially for English-speaking users in the U.S.
SGE has also been equipped to assist in translating ambiguous terms. For instance, when translating a phrase like “Is there a tie?” into Spanish, where the meaning could refer to a matching tie or a necktie, SGE identifies these ambiguous words, highlights them, and allows users to select the intended version.
Moreover, Google is introducing interactive definitions for coding and health topics in SGE. When users search for coding or health-related terms, SGE will display interactive definitions, providing a more engaging learning experience. Initially available in English in the U.S., this feature is expected to roll out to other countries in the future, further enhancing the versatility of Google’s AI-powered Search experience.
