In the wake of the company’s alleged failure to offer customers a complete product, Brazil’s government on Tuesday ordered Apple to stop selling iPhones in the country without a battery charger.
The Justice Ministry fined Apple 12.275 million reais ($2.38 million), ordered the sale of all iPhone models that don’t have a power adapter to be suspended, and banned the sale of all iPhone models that are iPhone 12 and newer.

The ministry claimed in the decision, which was published in the country’s official gazette, that the iPhone lacked a core component in a “deliberate discriminatory practice against consumers.”
The authorities disagreed with Apple’s claim that the action was taken to lessen carbon emissions, claiming that no proof selling the smartphone without a charger is protecting the environment.
