As the anticipation builds and rumors swirl, it appears that the unveiling of Apple‘s mixed-reality headset is finally within reach. According to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, the tech giant plans to announce the device this spring, ahead of its annual WWDC conference in June. This news comes after reports that select software developers have been given a sneak peek at the device and the new “xrOS” software that powers it.

The device, which has been in development for years, promises to offer a unique blend of virtual and augmented reality experiences. Insiders have indicated that the headset will feature advanced technology, including high-resolution displays, advanced eye-tracking and audio capabilities. The device is also expected to be powered by Apple’s own A-series chips and will run on the company’s proprietary “xrOS” operating system.

The launch of the mixed-reality headset is expected to have a significant impact on the rest of Apple’s 2023 product lineup. As the company shifts resources and software engineers toward finalizing the headset, we can expect to see fewer major changes in the upcoming versions of iOS and macOS. As Gurman suggests, the focus is now on getting the headset out the door, with plans to release it in the Fall.

All in all, the long-awaited mixed-reality headset from Apple is on the horizon, and fans and industry experts alike eagerly await its release, which could potentially change the way we interact with technology forever.

As the excitement builds around the potential launch of Apple’s mixed-reality headset, it seems the company’s other hardware plans may be less thrilling. According to Mark Gurman, there are no significant updates planned for Apple’s iPad, Apple Watch, and audio lines. While new iPad Pro models with OLED displays are rumored to be on the horizon, these are not expected to arrive until 2024.

The much-anticipated new Mac Pro is also shaping up to be a disappointment, according to Gurman. The new desktop computer will reportedly feature the same design as its 2019 predecessor and users will not be able to upgrade the computer’s RAM on their own due to the architecture of Apple’s M-series chipsets.

However, there may be some bright spots in Apple’s upcoming release schedule. Gurman suggests that a new 15-inch MacBook Air could be on the way, as well as the highly-anticipated iPhone 15. The latter is expected to feature Apple’s new Dynamic Island feature and USB-C charging, while the Pro models may also include new titanium frames and haptic volume buttons.

While the mixed-reality headset may be the most exciting new addition to Apple’s lineup, the company’s other hardware releases may not live up to the hype. Fans and industry experts alike will have to wait and see what the tech giant has in store for us in the coming months.
