Do you know how Apple‘s Magic Mouse has always been the quirky cousin in the tech family? Well, it’s about to get a whole lot more interesting – and potentially chatty.

Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman recently spilled the beans that Apple’s design team is cooking up a new version of the Magic Mouse. And boy, are they looking to fix some long-standing gripes? The most infamous one? That pesky charging port on the bottom turns your mouse into a paperweight while it juices up. Gurman hints that this time around, we might see that USB-C port relocated to a spot that doesn’t make you curse every time you need to charge it.

And you already know how to charge it

But wait, there’s more! A Korean leaker, who goes by the name yeux1122, has thrown a curveball into the mix, suggesting that the next iteration of the Magic Mouse could come with voice control capabilities. Yep, you might soon be able to boss your mouse around with just your voice. Picture this: You’re elbow-deep in spreadsheets, and instead of moving your hand, you just say, “Mouse, scroll down,” and voila!

This voice control angle was touched upon by Gurman on X (formerly Twitter), where he mused, “Voice control in the new Magic Mouse I wrote about this month makes sense in light of AI.” However, he also clarified that the big focus for this update is on ergonomics and new gestures, not just on making your mouse a voice-activated gadget.

He also hinted at a new keyboard in the works, so it seems like Apple’s whole desktop setup might be getting a makeover.

Now, before you start practicing your “Hey, Mouse!” commands, let’s keep expectations in check. This Korean report could be a classic case of “lost in translation,” taking Gurman’s original insights and spinning them into something with a bit more… flair. But it does spark a fun thought: how might AI reshape the humble mouse and keyboard?

Imagine a world where your mouse could not only help you navigate but also assist with tasks through voice commands, possibly integrating with Apple’s AI suite, perhaps even with a more advanced Siri. This could mean quicker access to features or even voice-activated shortcuts for those of us who prefer to keep our hands on the keyboard.

While we should approach these rumors with a healthy dose of skepticism, they certainly paint an exciting picture of where Apple‘s accessory line could be heading. The potential launch window for this revamped Magic Mouse is set for sometime in 2026, giving us all plenty of time to speculate on what else Apple might have up its sleeve.

So, whether you’re an Apple aficionado or just someone who loves seeing how technology evolves, keep an eye out. The future of your desktop might just get a lot more conversational, and definitely more ergonomic.

Stay tuned, and let’s see if Apple can make us all want to talk to our mice.
