Apple has officially unveiled its Black Friday 2025 streaming offer, dropping the price of its premium service, Apple TV (formerly Apple TV+), to just $36 for six months. Breaking down to roughly $5.99 per month, this deal represents a 54% discount off the standard $12.99 monthly rate.

The promotion is live now and runs through December 1, coinciding with Cyber Monday. It is available to both new subscribers and qualified returning users—specifically those who haven’t had an active subscription in the last 30 days.

While the savings are significant, the deal comes with a few specific requirements and lands in the middle of a confusing rebrand for the tech giant’s media arm. Here is everything you need to know before you sign up.

The deal

Unlike some competitors that offer 12-month lock-ins for Black Friday, Apple’s deal is a six-month commitment paid upfront.

  • The price: $36.00 total for 6 months (approx. $5.99/mo).
  • The savings: You save roughly $42 compared to the standard month-to-month pricing of $12.99.
  • Who is eligible: New users and “qualified returning subscribers” ( lapsed for at least 30 days).
  • The catch: You must subscribe directly through Apple (via the web at tv.apple.com or the Apple TV app on Apple devices). The deal is generally not available if you sign up through third-party billing partners like Amazon Prime Video channels or your cable provider.
  • Renewal: After the six-month promotional period, the plan automatically renews at the standard $12.99/month rate unless canceled.

A note on the rebrand: “Apple TV” vs. “Apple TV”

If you are confused by the name, you aren’t alone. In late 2025, Apple quietly dropped the “+” from “Apple TV+,” rebranding the service simply as Apple TV.

  • Apple’s surprising new TV intro wasn’t created with digital effects

This move has created a linguistic headache for consumers, as the name “Apple TV” now refers to three distinct products:

  1. The service: The streaming subscription with shows like Ted Lasso and Silo (the subject of this deal).
  2. The app: The application on your smart TV or phone where you watch content (which aggregates other apps like Disney+ and Hulu).
  3. The hardware: The physical set-top box you plug into your television.

For the purpose of this Black Friday deal, you are paying for The Service—unlimited access to Apple’s library of original movies and TV shows.

Is the library worth it?

When the service launched in 2019, it was criticized for a lack of content. That is no longer the case. Apple has effectively replaced HBO as the home for high-budget, prestige “Sunday Night” dramas.

If you grab the deal now, your six-month window will cover a slate of heavy hitters:

  • Sci-Fi dominance: Apple has cornered the market on smart science fiction. You can binge the current hits Silo (dystopian mystery) and For All Mankind (alternate history space race), as well as Foundation and Severance.
  • New arrivals: The subscription includes access to Pluribus, the highly anticipated new series from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, and the Formula 1 blockbuster film F1, starring Brad Pitt.
  • Award winners: The back catalog includes the Best Picture-winning film CODA, the comedy phenomenon Ted Lasso, and the spy thriller Slow Horses, which recently won an Emmy for outstanding writing.
