Apple has officially confirmed that Invasion will return to Apple TV Plus this summer, with the third season premiering on Friday, August 22, 2025, and rolling out new episodes every Friday through October 24. Alongside the announcement, Apple dropped a terse, 39-second teaser that gives us our first real glimpse of the apex aliens—ethereal, bioluminescent tendrils that slither through a devastated cityscape, hinting at the scale of destruction to come.

When Invasion debuted on October 22, 2021, it was part of Apple’s bold push into high‑concept science fiction, joining the likes of See and Foundation as marquee originals for the young streaming service. Created by Simon Kinberg and David Weil, the series takes a deliberately measured approach, unfolding in real time across four continents and multiple languages—including English, Japanese, and Pashto—to illustrate how ordinary people grapple with an existential threat. This storytelling style drew both praise and critique: while some lauded its ambition and scope, others found the pacing ponderous.

After a “slow burn” first season, which established characters like Aneesha Malik (Golshifteh Farahani) and Trevante Cole (Shamier Anderson) against the backdrop of vanishing satellites and mysterious force fields, season 2 amped up the stakes. Yet the series still divided audiences: some praised its character work and visual effects, while others felt the focus on global breadth came at the expense of deeper world‑building.

The newly released teaser arrives at a pivotal moment—just weeks after Apple revealed that season 3 consists of 10 episodes, all promise to converge on a single, earth‑shattering mission to infiltrate the alien mothership. In the clip, a lone figure races across rubble-strewn streets as luminescent tendrils whip through the air, underscoring how humanity’s window to act is rapidly closing. The teaser’s brevity is intentional: it offers no dialogue, no character reveals—only raw, unnerving glimpses of the invaders themselves.

What to expect when worlds collide

According to Apple’s official synopsis, season 3 will be the first time our disparate protagonists join forces on a unified front:

In season 3, those perspectives collide for the first time, as the series’ main characters are brought together to work as a team on a critical mission to infiltrate the alien mothership. The ultimate apex aliens have finally emerged, rapidly spreading their deadly tendrils across our planet. It will take all our heroes working together, using all their experience and expertise, to save our species. New relationships are formed, old relationships are challenged and even shattered, as our international cast of characters must become a team before it’s too late.

This all‑hands‑on‑deck scenario should sharpen the show’s dramatic focus and accelerate the plot—just what fans have been clamoring for since the end of season 2.

Season 3 will see the return of the core ensemble:

  • Golshifteh Farahani as Aneesha Malik
  • Shamier Anderson as Trevante Cole
  • India Brown as Jamila Huston
  • Shane Zaza as Mountaineering survivor
  • Enver Gjokaj as Clark Evans
  • Shioli Kutsuna as Mitsuki Yamato

In addition, Erika Alexander (known for her role in The Cosby Show) has been tapped for a series‑regular part, promising fresh dynamics and new alliances as the team navigates the alien battleground.

Invasion 3 is just one piece of Apple’s rapidly growing science‑fiction slate. On July 11, the platform will launch season 3 of Foundation, and later this year it plans to debut Murderbot and a high‑profile adaptation of William Gibson’s Neuromancer. This strategy underscores Apple’s commitment to genre storytelling—not just as spectacle, but as vehicles for global narratives that resonate with today’s audiences.

Ready your popcorn (and maybe your emergency flashlight): Invasion season 3 lands Friday, August 22, 2025, on Apple TV Plus. New episodes drop weekly every Friday, concluding on October 24—perfect for a brisk, fall‑time marathon.
