Samsung has teamed up with SEGA to introduce a new line of microSD cards adorned with the iconic characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Dubbed the Sonic the Hedgehog PRO Plus series, these memory cards blend high performance with robust durability, bringing a bit of gaming culture to everyday tech.

The new series is available in four distinct variants, each featuring a different Sonic character:

  • Knuckles graces the 128GB card with his vibrant red icon, priced at $23.99.
  • Tails appear on the 256GB card, sporting his signature yellow, for $36.99.
  • Sonic, the blue blur himself, is featured on the 512GB card, which costs $68.99.
  • Shadow, the enigmatic black hedgehog, headlines the largest 1TB card, tagged at $125.99.

This thematic approach not only appeals to fans of the Sonic franchise but also adds a unique flair to what is typically a mundane tech accessory.

Each card in the Sonic the Hedgehog PRO Plus series is classified as A2 microSD, ensuring they are optimized for applications requiring rapid access times. They boast impressive sequential read speeds of up to 180MB/s and write speeds of up to 130MB/s, making them ideal for gamers, photographers, and anyone who deals with large files frequently.

Samsung has engineered these cards for extreme conditions. They can withstand submersion in 3% salt water up to 1 meter for 72 hours without damage, making them perfect for adventurous tech users. Moreover, they are resistant to high temperatures, magnetic fields, and X-rays. Their drop resistance is equally commendable, surviving falls from over 4.8 meters, which adds an extra layer of reliability for those who lead an active lifestyle.

For those eager to get their hands on these cards, Samsung offers an early bird incentive. By signing up on their official website, consumers can snag a 30% discount and will be promptly notified when the cards hit the market. This not only sweetens the deal but also ensures that fans and tech enthusiasts can secure their favorite character’s card without delay.

These microSD cards are set to be available starting in January 2025, exclusively through Samsung’s official online store and select retailers.
