Google is making the Gemini app a more interactive learning tool with a new feature called Immersive Explorations, designed to help students and curious learners understand complex subjects through visual, guided experiences.
Announced on October 28, 2026, the feature introduces a library of interactive scenes covering topics ranging from microscopic systems to deep space. Instead of relying entirely on text-based explanations, users can explore different layers of a subject, interact with visual elements, and get a closer look at how things work.
The idea is to make complicated concepts easier to understand by allowing users to explore them rather than simply read about them.
Explore complex topics through interactive scenes
Immersive Explorations turns educational topics into interactive visual experiences. Google highlights several examples, including tracing historical trade routes along the Silk Road, examining the internal components of a jet engine, and exploring the physics behind lightning.
Each experience is designed to unfold gradually, with guided interactions that let users investigate individual elements. Tapping a label takes users deeper into a subject, moving between different levels of detail.
For example, an exploration can take someone from an overview of planetary-scale systems down to the microscopic world of molecules and atoms. This layered approach gives students an opportunity to understand how different parts of a larger system connect.
Google also says audio narration is coming to Immersive Explorations, which will provide additional guidance as users move through the different layers of an experience.
How to access Immersive Explorations in Gemini
For now, users can access the new experiences through the Gemini Student Hub. Inside the hub, select “Try immersive explorations” to open the available library and choose a topic to explore.
Google also plans to bring these experiences directly into regular Gemini conversations. That means users will eventually be able to access interactive explorations while chatting with the AI assistant, rather than having to visit a separate library.
Available languages and rollout
Immersive Explorations is available to all Gemini users, with support for English, Indonesian, Hindi, Brazilian Portuguese, French, and Simplified Chinese.
Users who select other languages will currently receive an English-only experience. Google says additional language support is coming.
The addition gives Gemini another educational use beyond answering questions, summarizing information, and helping with homework. By combining AI-assisted learning with interactive visual explanations, Google is making an effort to give students a more hands-on way to approach subjects that can otherwise be difficult to visualize.
It will be particularly useful for topics where understanding spatial relationships, internal structures, or changes across different scales matters more than simply memorizing definitions.
