Google is expanding its Gemini student experience to Google Workspace for Education, giving students with school-issued Google accounts a dedicated place to find Gemini’s learning tools.
The Gemini student hub was introduced earlier this year as a central destination for student-focused features in the Gemini app. Google is now bringing that experience to school-managed accounts, extending the hub beyond personal Google accounts.
The hub is designed to put Gemini’s learning tools in one place. Students can use it to start a study notebook, create flashcards, take practice quizzes and access additional learning features as Google adds them.
Gemini student hub comes to school accounts
The student hub is part of Google’s broader push to make Gemini more useful for studying. Instead of requiring students to find individual learning features within Gemini, the hub provides a dedicated starting point for those tools.
Google previously introduced the hub for consumer accounts, alongside features such as Study Notebooks, interactive visualizations and Gemini Live with Deep Research. The company says the student hub and Study Notebooks are now rolling out to school-issued Google accounts as well.
Students can access the experience through Gemini on the web or mobile, although availability depends on the account and applicable usage or age requirements.
What can students do with the Gemini student hub?
The hub brings several Gemini learning features together.
Students can create Study Notebooks using their own class materials, including lecture notes. Gemini can organize those materials into a guided study experience and create diagnostic quizzes, lessons and additional quizzes based on areas where the student needs more practice.
Students can also create flashcards and practice quizzes directly from the student hub.
Google is continuing to add learning tools to the hub, so the collection is expected to grow over time.
The broader Gemini student experience also includes interactive visualizations, which can generate interactive elements such as 3D simulations to help explain certain concepts. Google has also added Deep Research to Gemini Live, allowing students to discuss research topics conversationally after Gemini generates a research report.
Schools control access to Gemini
The important difference between the consumer and school versions is that students using school-issued accounts don’t independently control whether Gemini is available.
Access to Gemini and its features is governed by the school’s Google Workspace administration settings. That means an education institution can determine whether its students have access to Gemini’s AI features through the controls available to Workspace administrators.
So, seeing the student hub isn’t simply a matter of signing into any school Google account. The relevant Gemini features must be available for that account.
For students whose schools have enabled the experience, the hub provides a more straightforward way to discover Google’s AI-powered study tools without having to search for each feature individually.
Google is building a bigger Gemini education experience
The student hub is part of Google’s larger effort to bring Gemini deeper into the learning process.
Study Notebooks, for example, are designed around a student’s own course materials rather than relying only on a general Gemini conversation. Google says students can upload materials such as lecture notes and use them to create structured lessons and quizzes.
Google has also been adding Gemini capabilities to its education products, including Google Classroom, as it builds out a broader set of AI tools for students and educators.
The student hub gives those tools a more obvious home.
For students using Google Workspace for Education, that means Gemini’s study-focused features can now be easier to discover from the same account they already use for schoolwork.
Google says the student hub is rolling out to school-issued Google accounts, with availability depending on account eligibility, administrator settings and applicable usage limits.
