The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is returning to Prime Video next month, and the newly released trailer promises a darker chapter for Middle-earth as Sauron prepares to tighten his grip on the world.
Amazon has confirmed that The Rings of Power Season 3 will premiere on November 11, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video. The announcement comes alongside the release of the season’s official trailer, offering a closer look at the escalating war between Sauron and the remaining forces standing against him.
Rather than releasing the entire season at once, Prime Video will roll out the eight episodes across three dates in November. The first four episodes will arrive on November 11, followed by two episodes on November 18 and the final two on November 25.
What to expect from The Rings of Power Season 3
The third season moves the story forward by five years after the fall of Eregion, placing Middle-earth at the height of the war between the Elves and Sauron. The Dark Lord has expanded his power across the land, leaving only a handful of strongholds capable of resisting his growing armies.
The Dwarves are sealed within the mountain halls of Khazad-dûm, while the Elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell remain protected by their Three Rings. Meanwhile, Sauron is working from his newly completed tower of Barad-dûr in Mordor, focused on forging the One Ring to help him defeat his enemies and dominate Middle-earth.
The trailer also offers glimpses of tensions spreading across the region. The Dwarves face growing divisions within their kingdom, Númenor edges closer to civil war, and Gandalf attempts to influence events in the eastern lands of Rhûn. Sauron’s forces, including the terrifying Nazgûl, pose an increasingly dangerous threat to those still resisting him.
The new season continues the series’ exploration of Middle-earth’s Second Age, thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
New cast members join the returning characters
Season 3 brings several new actors into the fantasy series. Jamie Campbell Bower, known for his role in Stranger Things, joins the cast as Celeborn, Galadriel’s long-lost husband. Zubin Varla will play Khamûl, an Easterling from Rhûn, while Eddie Marsan appears as Thrain, the older brother of King Durin IV.
Other newcomers include Andrew Richardson as Anárion, Isildur’s brother; Adam Young as the mysterious Orc Marnûkh; and Simon Pegg, who will provide the voice of the Balrog.
Returning cast members include Charlie Vickers as Sauron, Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Robert Aramayo as Elrond, Daniel Weyman as Gandalf, Benjamin Walker as Gil-galad, and Owain Arthur as Durin IV. The ensemble also includes Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Maxim Baldry, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ciarán Hinds, and Rory Kinnear.
J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay return as showrunners and executive producers, with Charlotte Brändström also serving as an executive producer and director.
