Google is giving users more control over how Gemini Notebook creates presentations and video summaries, introducing a guided workflow that lets them refine the content, structure, and visual style before generating the final result.
Announced on October 21, 2026, the update adds customization options for Slide Decks and Video Overviews, allowing users to review outlines and production notes, provide feedback, and steer the final output instead of relying entirely on automatic generation.
The changes are designed to make AI-generated content more adaptable to different audiences and purposes, whether users are preparing a presentation from research materials or turning their sources into a video overview.
Review outlines and visual styles before generating content
With the new workflow, users can start creating a presentation or video by describing what they want in the Gemini Notebook chat or selecting the Slide Deck or Video option in the Studio panel.
Gemini Notebook can then suggest relevant topics to emphasize, content formats, and visual styles based on the sources available in the notebook. Users who already have a specific direction in mind can include their preferences in the initial prompt, allowing the tool to pre-fill the relevant selections rather than asking them to provide the same instructions again.
The update also introduces optional review stages for both formats.
For slide decks, users can enable the Review outline option to preview the proposed structure before generation. This provides an opportunity to assess how the presentation will be organized and submit written feedback before Gemini Notebook creates the finished deck.
For Video Overviews, the corresponding Review producer notes option lets users inspect the notes that will guide the video before it is generated. This gives them an additional opportunity to influence the content and direction of the final video.
These review steps could be particularly useful when a notebook contains a large collection of sources. Rather than immediately accepting an automatically generated presentation or video, users can make adjustments before the tool produces the final output.
A faster option is still available
The new controls are optional, so users who prefer speed over additional customization can continue generating Slide Decks and Video Overviews immediately.
Those who want more input into the result can enable the relevant review option, inspect the proposed outline or producer notes, and provide feedback before generation. This gives users a choice between a faster workflow and a more deliberate creation process.
The distinction matters because AI-generated presentations and videos often require more than simply extracting information from source documents. Their usefulness also depends on which points receive emphasis, how information is organized, and how the material is presented visually.
By introducing a review stage, Google is giving users an opportunity to influence those decisions before the final output is created.
Availability and rollout
Google says the new customization features are available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.
The gradual rollout began on October 16, 2026, across Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. Google says it can take up to 15 days for the features to become visible to users.
There is no administrator control specifically for this feature. Instead, end users can enable the Review outline or Review producer notes options when creating their content in Gemini Notebook.
For users who regularly turn research into presentations or video summaries, the update offers a practical improvement: more control over the result without removing the convenience of automated content generation.
