Beats and Nike are teaming up for their first-ever hardware collaboration with a special-edition Nike Powerbeats Pro 2, a fitness-focused pair of wireless earbuds designed to live in the gym, on the track, and pretty much anywhere you like to sweat. The collab doesn’t change the tech under the hood from the regular Powerbeats Pro 2, but it wraps one of the most capable workout earbuds on the market in a bold Nike aesthetic and ties it into Nike’s own training ecosystem.
On the design side, the Nike Powerbeats Pro 2 lean hard into Nike’s performance look, with a Black-and-Volt colorway that feels lifted straight from a pair of race-day running shoes. Each earbud has the familiar secure-fit earhook that loops over your ear, but this time, Beats does something it has never done before: the signature b logo sits on just one earbud, while the other is reserved for the Nike Swoosh, effectively sharing the brand “real estate” for the first time. The special-edition wireless charging case continues the theme with a Volt-splatter finish and Nike’s “Just Do It” tagline printed inside the lid, turning something you usually hide in a bag into a bit of a statement piece on its own.
Underneath the Nike branding, this is still very much the Powerbeats Pro 2 that launched as Beats’ most advanced sports earbud to date, including built-in heart rate monitoring. Beats uses LED optical sensors that pulse light more than 100 times per second to measure blood flow, feeding real-time heart-rate data into supported fitness apps so your earbuds effectively double as a workout tracker. With an iPhone, that data plugs straight into Apple’s Fitness app across dozens of workout types, while Android users get similar tracking and controls through the Beats app.

Noise control is another major part of the package. Powerbeats Pro 2 adds full Active Noise Cancellation and a Transparency mode, letting you either block the world out during a strength session or pipe in ambient sound for outdoor runs where situational awareness matters. An Adaptive EQ feature constantly tunes the audio based on your fit and seal, and support for Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking brings a more immersive feel to music and video, something Apple has been pushing across its audio lineup.
Battery life is where these earbuds really lean into “all-day athlete” territory. On their own, the earbuds are rated for up to 10 hours of playback with noise cancelling off (around 8 hours with ANC), and the wireless charging case extends that total to as much as 45 hours. A quick top-up before a workout is enough for most people: a 5‑minute charge can deliver up to roughly 90 minutes of listening, which is ideal if you realize your earbuds are dead just as you’re lacing up your shoes. The case supports both Qi-compatible wireless charging and USB-C, making it easy to drop onto the same charger as your phone or use a cable if you’re in a hurry.
Because these are built for sport first, the fundamentals of fit and durability are a big part of the story. Powerbeats Pro 2 carry an IPX4 rating, meaning they can handle sweat and splashes, and they were tested with hundreds of athletes across different training scenarios. Beats also expanded the ear tip selection to up to five sizes, from extra-small to extra-large, so more users can get a secure seal without over-relying on the earhook to keep the buds in place. The earhooks themselves use a lightweight nickel‑titanium alloy, which helps them flex and snap back into shape without adding bulk, something that matters on longer runs or high-intensity workouts where any extra weight becomes noticeable.
As with previous Beats gear under Apple’s umbrella, the Powerbeats Pro 2 lean heavily on Apple’s ecosystem, anchored by the H2 chip. That means one-touch pairing, rock-solid wireless performance, hands‑free “Hey Siri” support, and Find My integration to hunt down a missing earbud buried under a couch or left in a gym bag. Android users are not left out entirely: the Beats app unlocks setup, heart-rate tracking controls, and firmware updates, though some of the deep iOS tie-ins like native Fitness app integration are, predictably, Apple-only.
The Nike angle is not just cosmetic; it also extends into software. Out of the box, the Nike edition is designed to sync seamlessly with the Nike Run Club app, letting runners track heart rate and training data while staying inside the Nike ecosystem they may already use for guided runs and programs. For Nike, this creates a hardware companion to its software-first training strategy, and for Beats, it taps into a massive community of runners and gym-goers who already identify with the Swoosh.
On availability, the collaboration is being treated like a proper sneaker-style drop rather than a quiet color refresh. An early-access lottery on Nike’s SNKRS app is giving select customers a first chance to buy, followed by a wider launch on March 20 through nike.com, apple.com, and select Apple Stores worldwide. Pricing lines up with the standard Powerbeats Pro 2 at around $249.99 in the US.
For anyone already eyeing Powerbeats Pro 2 as a primary workout earbud, the Nike edition is essentially a style choice with ecosystem perks, not a spec upgrade. You still get the same combination of secure hooks, robust battery life, ANC, heart-rate monitoring, and Apple-level integration that has made Powerbeats Pro 2 one of the more complete fitness audio options available, but now wrapped in a look that mirrors Nike’s bold training gear. For runners and gym regulars who live in Nike shoes and apparel, having earbuds that finally wear the same badge may be reason enough to pick this special-edition pair over the standard colors.
